A big congratulations to Joseph Sims! So excited to have you as my desk buddy on the evening crew!! Cheers to many great things ahead!

We are shaking things up at WDHN! A face you all know and love will soon be moving to the evening shows. Starting Monday, July 14, Joseph Sims will join Jessica Gauthier on the anchor desk for our 5,6, and 10 p.m. shows! Joseph joined the WDHN crews two years ago as a morning anchor for Wake Up Wiregrass. Please help us congratulate Joseph on this big step!

A big congratulations to Michael Rinker as he prepares for a new chapter. As bittersweet as it is to see Michael’s time in the wiregrass end, this opportunity is so well deserved!

To my coanchor, mentor, and friend, you will be so deeply missed here. You’ve taught me not only how to do the job, but how to be a leader in the newsroom and deal with each and every obstacle that comes with it.

I’m so thankful to have learned from someone who has such a strong news mind and carries the name of the station so incredibly well.

You’ve spent the past five years building WDHN News up to what it is today, and we are all so grateful for you knowledge, hard work, passion, and leadership throughout your time here.

Wishing you the absolute best my dear friend, Virginia is so lucky to have you!

As WDHN continues to welcome new faces, it is time to bid farewell and wish good luck to a dear family member. Michael Rinker will be leaving WDHN after five years in the Wiregrass. July 11th will mark his last day on the WDHN desk. He will be moving home to Virginia to join the news team at the Nexstar station in Virginia Beach.

Michael joined the WDHN team back in the summer of 2020.

He started as our Sports Director, before transitioning to the morning show as an anchor in 2021, and then moved to the evening shows in 2023.

From bringing you the news each night and enjoying your company at community events and high school football games, Michael has thoroughly enjoyed his five years as a member of the Wiregrass.

One year in the anchor chair!!

Today marks a year since I started my first job out of college at WDHN News and just a few days away from a year since my first day on air!

In the past year, I’ve grown more than I ever expected. From learning how to produce and stack a full evening newscast, to writing impactful scripts, anchoring confidently (even when things go off-script), bringing stories to life with creative visuals and thoughtful pacing, and how every role in a newsroom works together to make it all happen.

This year has been a whirlwind of hurricanes, tornadoes, trials, a general election, and so much more, but with all of it came growth, challenge, adaptability, and discovery.

It’s hard to even begin to sum up everything I’ve learned, and I’m still growing every day, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned above all: preparation, teamwork, and passion make all the difference, and I’m filled with so much gratitude that i’m able to get up every day and do what I love.

May 17 will mark my last day at WDHN. The last 3+ years have been an experience that has grown me as a journalist and man and prepped me for my next adventure.

I am thankful to my family, friends, and others around the Wiregrass that have supported me during my time in Dothan. I also thank all the people that have let me tell their stories, watched me anchor, or even just read one of my articles on the website.

Super excited for the next adventure and can’t wait to release that in the coming weeks.
