I’M LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT PERSON TO JOIN MY CARE TEAM

I don’t post many “help wanted” messages here, but this one is important.

I’m currently looking for a dependable caregiver to join my established team here in Edgewater, Florida.

This is a long-term live-in / multi-day position built around approximately 3 weekends per month plus 1–2 weekday overnights.

Compensation is $1,100 per week plus a private room and board.

A few important details:

• Most overnight hours are sleeping coverage
• Private room provided
• Ceiling lift — no manual lifting or transfers
• No bowel or bladder program responsibilities
• Established daytime caregiver team already in place
• Help with personal care, meals and normal daily activities
• Occasional outings, events and travel

Caregiving or CNA experience is definitely helpful, but I’ve learned over the years that reliability, good judgment, personality fit and genuinely caring about the person you’re working with matter just as much.

I live a pretty active life. I work, travel, attend events, spend time with family and friends, and generally have too many projects going at once. 😂

So I’m looking for someone energetic and dependable who is comfortable with hands-on personal care, multi-day coverage and being part of an active household.

The start date is flexible for the right person, approximately late September / early October.

🚨 RECALL ALERT — PLEASE SHARE

If you use Hollister Onli Hydrophilic Intermittent Catheters, or you care for someone who does, take a second and check your supplies.

The FDA has issued a Class II recall because some catheters may have a protrusion near the funnel that can potentially cause urinary trauma or bleeding.

This is one of those little things that can turn into a very big problem for somebody with SCI.

Before using one, look it over. If you see or feel a protrusion near the funnel, DO NOT use it.

And please share this. A lot of us depend on this equipment every single day, and there’s a good chance somebody who needs to see this hasn’t heard about the recall yet.

Something about this one hit me harder than I expected.

After nine years with the same caregiver, a breakfast taco somehow turned into a reminder that caregiving is about more than routines, tasks, and getting through the day. It’s also about ownership. Contribution. Pride. And making sure the people who help build your life know they’re part of something bigger than a checklist.

⚠️ POWER WHEELCHAIR RECALL — Permobil M3 & M5 Corpus

If you use a Permobil M3 Corpus or M5 Corpus, there are two FDA Class II recalls worth checking.

The M3 Corpus recall involves certain chairs running firmware version 1.26.2. The firmware may not properly restrict speed when the seat lift is elevated, which could increase the risk of instability, tipping, or a fall.

The M5 Corpus recall involves Power Platform firmware versions 1.27–1.57. Missing drive-inhibit logic may allow the chair to drive under conditions when movement should normally be restricted, potentially creating an unstable situation.

Both issues are being addressed through firmware updates.

If you use one of these chairs, check with your wheelchair provider or Permobil to make sure your firmware has been updated and the recall has been addressed.

Keeping up with equipment recalls matters — particularly when the equipment is something we depend on every day for independence.
