20 years ago, I was just a local DJ and a dad sitting by the projector at Jennings Beach while my kids waited for movie night to start. That night, a simple conversation with then-Recreation Director sparked something special. She mentioned how they used to have bands play at the beach and wondered what it’d be like to bring that back. I told her I was a DJ, and she took a chance on me.

One summer later, sanDJam was born.

What started as a one-night dance party before a movie turned into a summer tradition—now five nights strong, filled with music, dancing, community, and unforgettable memories.

As we kick off the 20th season this Friday (6/13) at Jennings Beach, I’m filled with gratitude—for every laugh, every song, and every person who showed up year after year. This legacy means the world to me. These photos are some of the earliest I could find from the start of this incredible journey.
