A 5-YEAR-OLD BOY DIED IN A HOT CAR WHILE HIS FAMILY HOSTED A PARTY WITH 50 GUESTS

Theo Sabo, 5, died after being left in a hot car outside his family's home near 67th Avenue and Happy Valley Road in the Phoenix area. Police say his parents, Mihail and Anca Sabo, had returned home from another child's baptism around 1 p.m. and began hosting a gathering with roughly 50 friends and relatives. Theo never made it inside.

The family didn't realize he was missing until after 3:45 p.m., more than two and a half hours later. His mother found him unresponsive inside the vehicle. Relatives performed CPR before first responders rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Temperatures that day reached approximately 106 degrees.

Mihail and Anca were arrested and charged with negligent homicide and child abuse. Authorities say Mihail told investigators he had asked the couple's 14-year-old son to get Theo out of the car after they arrived home, but the teen told police he was never asked to do that.

At separate court hearings this week, Anca was seen sobbing while Mihail kept his head down. Their attorney, Leah Dodd, called it "a tragedy" and argued that asking a 14-year-old for help wasn't unreasonable given how many people were at the house. The couple has four other children, ages 18, 15, 14, and 9.

"HERE, DRINK THIS": A HOME CARE WORKER FILLED HIS PATIENT'S WATER BOTTLE WITH BLEACH ON CAMERA

Reginald Andre Wilson, 30, a home care worker with Heaven on Earth in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is under arrest after security footage allegedly caught him pouring a substance from a large jug into a water bottle inside his client's home.

Police say Wilson returned the jug to the laundry area, shook the bottle, then handed it directly to the person in his care, telling them, "Here, drink this." The client, who is physically and mentally disabled, drank from the bottle and noticed it tasted like bleach. When a family member confronted him, Wilson reportedly admitted to pouring bleach into it.

The family shared the footage publicly, saying they're demanding justice. Wilson has since been fired and now faces charges of aggravated battery, mingling harmful substances, and cruelty to persons with infirmities.

A FLORIDA MOTHER CALLED POLICE ON HER SON FOR ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING HER, THE INVESTIGATION UNCOVERED SOMETHING FAR WORSE

Christina Clemens called Polk County deputies to her Florida home after accusing her adult son, Shane Clemens, of battering her during an argument. While investigating, deputies say Shane told them he and his mother had been in a sexual relationship since he turned 18.

When confronted, Christina allegedly confirmed it, telling deputies she and Shane had s*x "only about 100 times," according to Sheriff Grady Judd. Investigators also say a recorded jail phone call captured Christina asking Shane whether he wanted to "stop doing what we do," along with discussion about deleting evidence from his phone.

Christina's husband told detectives he had no idea about the alleged relationship, but said he had found it suspicious that the two would regularly go into the master bedroom together and lock the door. "What else can you say? That's nasty," Judd said. "And it's illegal."

Both Christina and Shane were charged with in**st, a third-degree felony under Florida law. Christina faces an additional charge of living in open adultery. The allegations have not been proven in court.

A COP SHOT A PET DONKEY IN ITS OWN PASTURE DURING A SEARCH FOR A MISSING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL

Hannah Israel, owner of Elsberry Riding and Farm in Rockmart, Georgia, has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Cedartown Officer Trenton Ryan Garner after he fatally shot her bottle-raised donkey, HeeHaw, in her own pasture. The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. on August 30, while officers searched the area for a missing 12-year-old girl.

According to the lawsuit, Garner and other officers entered Israel's enclosed pasture without her permission, a warrant, or any emergency justification. Garner's own police report tells a different side: he says HeeHaw charged toward him and a K-9 handler, and that a Taser failed to stop the donkey before he fired one shot to protect the search team from injury. HeeHaw, worth an estimated $6,000 according to Israel, had reportedly never shown aggression before.

Israel says officers left without telling her where HeeHaw's body was, forcing her and a child to search several dark acres before finding him. The missing girl was found safe nearby a short time later. Garner has been placed on administrative leave while the Georgia Department of Agriculture's Law Enforcement Division investigates. Cedartown's police chief said he has reviewed body camera footage of the incident.

Israel's attorney has also sent a $1 million legal demand to the city and county, separate from the federal suit against Garner individually.

A HILLHOUSE HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A STUDENT TWICE IN HIS OFFICE

Daniel Bonet-Ojeda, 49, an assistant principal at James Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut, turned himself in Monday evening after police issued a warrant for his arrest. He is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual ass*ult and two counts of fourth-degree sexual ass*ult.

New Haven police say they were notified on May 22 by the state Department of Children and Families of a sexual assault allegation. According to investigators, Bonet-Ojeda built a trusting relationship with the student before arranging to be alone with her in his office on two consecutive days while school was in session. The student told police the assaults ended when he was interrupted. Detectives say surveillance video from inside the school, along with statements from witnesses and staff, corroborated her account.

The district placed Bonet-Ojeda on administrative leave on May 26, pending the outcome of the investigation. This isn't the first time he's faced workplace scrutiny; in January 2019, while serving as principal of a different New Haven school, he was placed on temporary leave over separate allegations of staff harassment and non-compliance with mandatory reporting rules, which he denied at the time. He was later cleared to return and transferred to his current role in 2019.

Bonet-Ojeda was arraigned Tuesday and held on a $250,000 bond. He is due back in court on October 8. The charges have not been proven, and he has not been convicted.

A MAN POSED AS A RIDESHARE DRIVER FOR YEARS TO KIDNAP AND R**E WOMEN LEAVING SAN FRANCISCO NIGHTCLUBS

Orlando Vilchez Lazo, 44, has been sentenced to 150 years to life in prison, six consecutive life terms, after being convicted of a string of violent sexual assaults committed while posing as a rideshare driver in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood.

According to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, Vilchez Lazo would pull up outside bars and nightclubs with a Lyft or Uber decal on his car and confirm he was the rideshare a woman was waiting for. Instead of taking them home, he drove them to remote, secluded areas, including one repeated location on Mansell Street, and r*ped them, in some cases at knifepoint, after taking their phones so they couldn't call for help.

His first known attack was in 2013, targeting a 21-year-old college student leaving a Mission District bar. DNA evidence sat unmatched for five years until a 2018 assault linked back to the same suspect, followed by two more attacks that same summer. One victim managed to escape after being dragged back into the vehicle multiple times and ran to a nearby house for help. Police eventually identified Vilchez Lazo through undercover surveillance, and he was convicted on 11 to 12 felony counts including kidnapping, r**e by force or fear, and sexual pe*******on with a foreign object.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said the case prompted rideshare companies to update safety practices, including reminding riders to verify license plates and let drivers confirm their name first. Vilchez Lazo's defense has said it intends to appeal.

A NORTH CAROLINA COP SPENT HIS LUNCH BREAK SHARING PIZZA WITH A HOMELESS WOMAN NAMED MICHELLE

Officer Michael Rivers of the Goldsboro Police Department was on his lunch break in March 2020 when he spotted a homeless woman he hadn't seen before in the community, wearing a shirt that read, "Homeless: the fastest way of becoming a nobody." He drove past at first, but something told him to turn around.

He asked if she'd eaten that day. She said no. Rivers picked up a couple of pizzas and a soda, then sat down with her on the side of the road. He later told CNN, "God put it on my heart to get her lunch." The two ended up talking for 45 minutes, and he learned her name was Michelle, and that she had two children, including a 12-year-old daughter in foster care battling liver disease.

A passerby, Cassie Barnes, snapped a photo of the moment and her husband posted it to Facebook, where it quickly spread. Rivers, an eight-year veteran of the department at the time, said the encounter reminded him how much homeless people and police officers both get unfairly judged by a few bad situations. "Homeless people are just people who are down on their luck," he said. "It can happen to anybody."

A PHD STUDENT IS CHARGED WITH KILLING HER FRIENDS' 6-WEEK-OLD SON WHILE BABYSITTING HIS TWIN BROTHER

Nicole Virzi, 31, a PhD student in a joint clinical psychology program at UC San Diego and San Diego State University, is facing the death penalty in connection with the June 2024 death of 6-week-old Leon Katz, whose family she had known for years.

According to a criminal complaint, Virzi was babysitting Leon and his twin brother, Ari, at the family's Pittsburgh-area home while their parents were out. She contacted the parents after noticing injuries to Ari, including scratches and bruising, and the parents rushed him to the hospital, leaving Virzi alone with Leon. That night, Virzi called 911, telling responders that Leon had fallen and hit his head. He was taken to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital and later pronounced dead.

An autopsy determined Leon died from blunt force trauma to the head, including a severe skull fracture and multiple brain bleeds, which the medical examiner ruled a homicide. A physician at the hospital's Child Advocacy Center found that both twins' injuries were consistent with abuse rather than an accident.

According to court filings, Virzi later told investigators she had intentionally shaken and dropped Leon multiple times. A judge ruled earlier this year that her recorded statements to investigators can be used at trial. She has pleaded not guilty to charges including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of children. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty if she is convicted, citing torture as an aggravating factor. No trial date has been set as of this report.

A SUSPENDED GERMAN POLICE OFFICER IS ON TRIAL FOR R*PING A 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND POSSESSING CHILD AB*SE MATERIAL

The trial of a 55-year-old suspended police officer began this week at the Traunstein Regional Court in Germany. German regional media report the defendant is a transgender woman.

Prosecutors allege that in August 2025, during an outing with a friend, the defendant r*ped the friend's 14-year-old daughter in a restroom stall at a fast-food restaurant. The defendant is also accused of sending the girl a s*xually explicit message roughly a year earlier.

Separately, investigators say they found hundreds of files depicting child s*xual ab*se on the defendant's devices, including material involving very young victims. The defendant is also charged with producing pornographic material involving an animal.

The defendant has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the trial. No verdict has been reached, and the charges remain unproven in court.

The trial is ongoing at the Traunstein Regional Court.

ON JANUARY 29, 1979, A 16-YEAR-OLD OPENED FIRE ON AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND SAID SHE DID IT BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T LIKE MONDAYS

Brenda Ann Spencer, 16, opened fire with a .22-caliber semi-automatic r***e from a window of her family's home across the street from Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego on the morning of January 29, 1979, as children lined up outside waiting for the gates to open.

She fired 36 rounds, k*lling principal Burton Wragg and custodian Mike Suchar, and wounding eight students and a responding police officer. She then barricaded herself inside her home for more than six hours before surrendering to police.

During the standoff, a reporter who called the house reached Spencer directly and asked why she had done it. She reportedly replied, "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day." The r***e used in the shooting had been given to her by her father as a Christmas gift the month before. Spencer later said she had been drinking and using drugs in the days leading up to the attack, and had told classmates beforehand that she planned to do "something big to get on TV."

Spencer was tried as an adult, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, and was sentenced in 1980 to 25 years to life in prison. She remains incarcerated and has been denied parole multiple times, most recently in 2025.

The case is widely regarded as one of the first modern school shootings in the United States, and inspired the Boomtown Rats song "I Don't Like Mondays."
