Please PRAY for us and BEST plan for Mike

One of the heart failure cardiologists on the team talked with us for the first time yesterday when she came on the rotation over the weekend. After looking at all his tests and history since the heart attack, her concern is that stents would NOT help him or his heart function. The blood flow would not increase over his heart where he needs it. And they cannot stent the LAD artery (widow maker) where his heart attack happened. She said the LVAD -permanent heart pump is his best option and he would be a candidate for heart transplant in 6 months.

And even though his kidney numbers have been below 3 a few times, they are staying around 3 and ANY procedure would injure them and would require dialysis afterwards.

This heart dr has met with the other team of surgeons and heart doctors and they are discussing what the options are. As of this morning, the plan is to wean him off the heart pump he has had for 3 weeks and see how his heart does. Then discuss if they can proceed with an LVAD permanent pump or what next steps are.

It feels like hope is a rug yanked out from underneath us. BUT ...

I KNOW Hope has a NAME. It's JESUS.

JESUS is the only sure hope we cling to in the darkness.

We are tired physically and emotionally and mentally. Mike is discouraged.

Please pray for all these specifics, for his heart team's wisdom and care, for his healing from the Lord-a miracle, and that all of us rest in the surpassing peace of The Prince of Peace.

As many of you may know my uncle Mike had a massive heart attack on 11/18. It is a miracle he is still with us!

The hospital informed us he had four blockages but his heart was too weak for a surgery and they needed to transfer him to a hospital 4 hours away from home.

His body had dealt with incredible shock and his heart continues to be weak and needs time to recover so they can do the procedure he needs.

We need continued prayers for physical healing and recovery. We need his heart to strengthen!

Also we need to rally behind them in financial support. The family is having to stay in a hotel and also pay for meals. They are facing mounting medical bills and uncertainty. 2 weeks already in Critical Care/ICU. At this point we know his stay will be extensive and they will need support.

I have learned that one of the best ways to encourage people on these times first is through prayer and second is bringing relief to the burden of finances.

If you are able please consider supporting them in this time of need. Also please pray for them daily!

Update on Mike:

Good news is that we have a plan in place to move forward.

The team of heart doctors/surgeons here have reviewed his recent PET Scans/viability tests for his heart damage and function.

He will have a heart cath sometime next week to place stents. They will keep him on the heart pump during and after to support his heart. Today makes 2 weeks on the pump.

Then, doctors will see how his heart functions and if he can be weened off pump, if he can, he recovers here a bit and goes home with heart therapy. if not, then we discuss permanent pump device or heart transplant.

With his particular damage and blockage, bypass cannot be done and would not help him.

Our family is so grateful to all of you, God’s faithful prayer warriors, standing in agreement with us for Mike. Continue to pray and for his team of care givers.

Update on Mike:

Thanks everyone for your continued prayers and concern. Mike was moved to a new hospital last night. The critical care team and cardiologists at the new hospital are reevaluating him for next steps.

His kidneys still need to improve and his heart muscle is weak, so he cannot sustain surgery at this time. No surgery on Monday, 12/1. They will discuss a plan to move forward on Monday and what that might look like.

We have already seen one God-miracle and have divine hope for more.

Our daughter reminds us, “We believe in miracles and trust in the One who created his heart and knew every beat it would ever take ❤️”

Updates on Mike:

Mike’s open heart surgery is scheduled for Monday, 12/1, and he’s very high risk. Quadruple bypass. Please pray his kidneys recover from the hit they took from the heart attack 1 week ago, and he regains some strength through PT and eating/ feeding tube. He’s still in critical care, but so many improvements. Which we are so thankful for.

WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS

To all our friends and viewers. Mike earnestly needs your prayers. It’s been a rough 2 days. Mike had a heart attack on Tuesday. His heart is too weak for needed surgery. He has a surgically placed pump to keep blood flow going until his heart, body, and organs can recover from the shock and trauma to his body. He’s in critical care and is still very sick.

We love you all and know so many of you will pray for him. Numerous prayer chains are already underway with people prayimg from around the world.
