Sun Valley Magazine is the result of a commitment to celebrating life and its many facets here in the Wood River Valley in Central Idaho as paradise, we are not immune to the challenges that affect the outside world, nor, are we critical of the lifestyles of those “less fortunates” who don’t call this Valley home. But everyone needs reminding sometimes of the reasons they live anywhere and it is o

ur position at this magazine that this is our raison de’etres. It gets us up everyday and out asking “Tell me something I don’t know . . .” asking the movers and shakers as well as the workers and families who let us in so we can fill you in on the stories that are the fabric of our life here. Our goal is to break down the barriers, open eyes, occasionally bring tears, but to always leave a mark on your memory. Our hope is that if you live here too, or just love it here like we do, then some aspect of our magazine resonates. We don’t claim to be all things to all people, but we are a magazine of the people and written for the people of the Wood River Valley and beyond. It’s a responsibility we take seriously. And it’s one we work hard to perpetuate through all of our publications be it the summer, fall, or winter edition of the coffee table-worthy Sun Valley Magazine, or our fine dining feature magazine, Taste of Sun Valley. We’ve created Golf and Hockey magazines for those sports fans and also tackle projects in our custom publishing division that don’t conflict with our mission and high standards, but which allow us to keep bringing you the quality photography and writing that keeps readers coming back. Although a locally-based magazine, we don’t shy from regional stories—in fact our publications are sold nationally in more than 400 locations nationwide, notably the Boise Airport and Salt Lake International Airport, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Hastings, Waldenbooks and regional Albertson’s markets, as well as Atkinsons' Markets and local bookstores and gift shops. Today is the day! The renowned Sun Valley Music Festival begins its 41st season today at the Sun Valley Pavilion! 🎻 Enjoy world-class classical music performances, all free of charge. Don't miss this incredible annual tradition.

Announcing our 41st Summer Season: July 28–August 21, 2025!

The Sun Valley Music Festival proudly announces its landmark 41st season, from July 28 to August 21, at the Sun Valley Pavilion, in the beautiful, natural surroundings of Sun Valley—the country’s original destination ski resort. Curated by Music Director Alasdair Neale, the 2025 summer season will feature the all-star Festival Orchestra—the finest musicians from orchestras throughout North America—performing with world-renowned guest artists including pianist Gabriela Martinez, the Grammy-winning trio Time for Three, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and pianist Olga Kern.

“The orchestra shines in all-Ravel and all-Strauss programs designed to show the sumptuous range of color of a full symphony orchestra," commented Music Director Alasdair Neale. "In addition, we have the first-ever Sun Valley performances of Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony and Schumann’s Fourth Symphony (the latter led by Stephanie Childress, who returns for her third season as Associate Conductor). And Jacomo Bairos conducts a Latin Pops concert that will likely have you dancing in the aisles.”

Summer concerts offer an exciting social experience, where people from all walks of life can enjoy music together—for free. While some seats in the Pavilion may be reserved in advance by donors at certain levels, great admission-free seats are always available to the public both in the Pavilion and on the lawn. For concert dates, details, and updates, please visit svmusicfestival.org or subscribe to the Festival’s e-news at svmusicfestival.org/subscribe. Details about the fundraising Gala will be announced in February. This concert is the only ticketed event of the year; sales help keep the rest of the concerts admission-free.

So beautiful! Can you believe that this is the view that Carol of Prairie Sun Farm sees every day? Maybe that’s what inspires her to grow so many gorgeous vegetables.
