Big mountain goats, tiny kids, and serious dedication. 🐐❄️

We loved this recent Flathead Beacon feature celebrating photographer Sumio Harada and his decades spent capturing Glacier’s most iconic climbers, mountain goats—often in the dead of winter.

Sumio’s stunning work also shines in “Mountain Goat Babies!” where his images bring these irresistible little goats to life for young readers.

Huge kudos to Sumio for the well-earned recognition—and for reminding us that sometimes the best shots require a sled, a 600mm lens, and a whole lot of grit. 📸

Today, we honor Sacagawea (also spelled Sakakawea or Sacajawea), the courageous Lemhi Shoshone woman who, at just 16, served as an interpreter and guide during the Lewis & Clark Expedition. Her strength, resilience, and legacy continue to inspire generations.

You can explore her story and the world she helped the Corps of Discovery navigate in several Farcountry Press books.

Here’s to remembering Sacagawea’s remarkable impact on history.
