We kicked off January with our chapter meeting at Cookchill, welcoming so many new faces and an incredible turnout. It was an inspiring morning learning about their amazing products and exploring the showroom firsthand.

As our IDS chapter grows… Our board is also growing! We are adding a co- chair position to our event director role to help us manage our larger events, and offer opportunities to grow our membership by engaging in leadership experience.

🎉 Jen will join Lacie Heckathorne who has been our acting events chair. They will join forces and collaborate as co chairs moving into 2026.

If you are interested in leadership opportunities, we will be having elections at the end of the 2026 year… Stay tuned and start considering how you can become more involved in our IDS Houston chapter.

Here’s a bit more about Jen in her own words:

Jen is entering her fifth year as principal owner of Jen Kolb Interiors, a boutique firm specializing in architecturally grounded, timeless interiors. Prior to founding her firm, Jen spent many years working in educational advocacy both in Houston and on the east coast. She holds a degree in Creative Writing and completed the New York Institute of Art and Design’s interior design program. Jen is passionate about storytelling and uses it as a tool both to bring concepts to life and to motivate teams around a common goal.

join us at Star furniture for an early morning breakfast, lots of fun and preview of new products… And then we are off to Round Top Texas! Join us for a private lunch, lots of shopping, and so much fun!

we will host our AMAZING Student SWATCHED event again this year… Come out and support local design students, volunteer to be a judge, be part of the fun supporting our Houston design students!

✨ What a year, IDS Houston! ✨
We kicked off 2025 with The Great Design Race and never slowed down—from an inspiring and empowering talk with LuAnn Nigara, to creating change through Art with a Purpose, and hosting our first-ever Houston pop-up with Designers for Dogs 🐾
We hit the road to Round Top with Star Furniture, learned how to play mahjong, and made history with our first Swatched Competition alongside HCC and Carver High School, supporting and inspiring the next generation of designers 🎨
We celebrated BIG wins at the IDS National Convention in New Orleans, where our very own Juliana Ewer & Christine Cook brought home design awards 🏆 — and IDS Houston proudly took home the Chapter IMPACT Award for our philanthropic efforts ❤️
Along the way, we continued to grow through incredible CEUs with Sherwin Williams, Hilltop Stone, and Clean as a Whistle, and wrapped up the year in style with our holiday party at the B/S/H Experience Design Center ✨

✨🎉 What a Night! The IDS Houston Holiday Party Went BIG! 🎉✨
We wrapped up the season in true holiday style — and wow, did this year deliver! From sparkling cocktails to full-blown casino night fun, our community showed up ready to celebrate, connect, and give back.
