DPS Operation in Fort Bend County Leads to 43 Arrests, 12 Victims Rescued
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced that a three-day operation in Fort Bend County resulted in 43 arrests and the recovery of 12 victims of human-trafficking.
The multi-agency effort included support from the Texas Anti-Gang Center, Texas Highway Patrol, Katy Police Department, Sugar Land Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, and the Houston Police Department.
In total, officers made 39 arrests for solicitation of prostitution, 1 for promotion of prostitution, 2 for outstanding warrants, and 1 for DWI. Victims rescued during the operation have been connected with services to help them recover and rebuild their lives.
Although the arrests occurred just north of us in Fort Bend County, the case is a reminder that human-trafficking and exploitation can occur anywhere — even close to home. Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement or the Texas Human-Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
