In this portion of a German film we see an air attack drill as part of an exercise. As the crew scramble to their battle stations the sea plane is launched in order to lay down a smoke screen to conceal the vessel.

When you think of overrated tanks the Panzer IV probably isn't what comes to mind. I would argue it's a perfect example of one, though, as many nowadays view it as the better option for Germany over later types. This ignores the very real limitations the aging tank suffered from and the fact that if the war had continued for another year or more the 75mm would quickly begin to be insufficient against the new tanks from the allies.

No list on overrated tanks would be complete without mentioning the Soviet IS-3. Although the level of fear it instilled in western militaries tends to be exaggerated these and other new tank types which appeared at the end of WW2 were reason to be concerned. Had a conflict broken out between the west and the east these tanks which featured enough armor to stop even the most powerful German guns could have caused serious losses or even defeat in Europe against the red menace.

Thankfully this never occurred and tanks like the IS-3 have been largely forgotten with the shift to MBTs

I always love to see nose art on different planes and I try to get pictures whenever I get the chance. Here's some of the ones I saw today at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Fantastic collection and I definitely recommend it to anyone who gets the chance to stop. Definitely make sure to plan for at least a few hours to see everything though

Might be the single most American photo I've ever taken. Almost too much freedom to fit in the frame
