BREAKING COUNTRY MUSIC NEWS:

Raul Malo, the lead singer of The Mavericks, has passed away at the age of 60, after battling a rare form of brain cancer.

The band's music transcended genres and generations of fans. They were named the Country Music Association's Vocal Group of the Year in 1995 and 1996 and received many accolades over the decades.

Raul is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty; sons Dino, Victor, and Max, mother Norma, sister Carol, and Mavericks bandmates Paul Deakin, Eddie Perez, and Jerry Dale McFadden.

WBDC will have a musical tribute to Raul's legacy during Lunch with the Legends during the noon hour today.

Donna Harris and Speedy LeFevre, with the American Legion Riders Chapter #147, visit the studio to discuss what the American Legion Riders are, how they give back to local veterans, and their upcoming 2nd annual Cookies with Santa Claus, happening at the Jasper American Legion (1220 N Newton Street) on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM EST.

The event is free, and open to the public to attend.

Carla Striegel-Winner, Director of the Dubois County Solid Waste District, visits the studio to discuss the 7th annual holiday recycling program for recycling old and unwanted stands of Christmas lights, along with other electronics recycling, the DCSWD's tree entry into the Festival of Trees hosted by the Dubois County Museum, and additional information on recycling with DCSWD at their Processing Center, located at 1103 S. 350 W. in Jasper.
