Real-world heroes don’t wear capes—they’re out in our communities changing lives every single day. 👑✨

Page 15 of our June issue shines a well-deserved spotlight on two remarkable forces of nature for our Black Women of Excellence feature:

✨ Dr. Katrina Lake, MD ( if available) — an exceptional OB/GYN, advocate, and founder of Sister MD, a mentoring network uplifting the next generation of minority healthcare professionals. 🩺

✨ Melinda Collins — a dedicated licensed professional therapist and DCFS Child Protection Investigator whose empathy and service bring hope and healing to families when they need it most. 💛

Let’s celebrate these incredible leaders, and tap the link in our bio to read their full inspiring stories!

When we learned that Dr. Gbemisola Johnson was using art projects as a way to help her primary care patients manage their mental and emotional health, we decided we all need to start incorporating some art/creativity breaks into our day.

Thank you to Springfield Business Journal for helping us share Dr. Johnson's story and the importance of primary care.

Representative Camille Y. Lilly and Black leaders are taking the fight for funding equity straight to Springfield. With Black and African American individuals making up over 40% of those living with HIV in Illinois—and 50% of HIV-related deaths—advocates are demanding that state resources finally match the actual burden of the disease.

Supported by House Bill 4807 and Senate Bill 3615, these leaders are fighting to ensure Black-led community organizations get the vital resources they need to save lives.

Let’s stand behind the Black Leadership Advocacy Coalition for Healthcare Equity as they push for a healthier, fairer Illinois! 📊❤️

As we formally open the 52nd Central Regional Conference, we do so with hearts full of gratitude.

The Central Region has been shaped by the dedication and servant leadership of Central Regional Director Michelle Tucker and Central Regional Representative Arilynn Miller. Their commitment to this region has been marked by a spirit of excellence and a deep devotion to every soror they have served — remaining anchored in the legacy of the Central Region, while being intentional about evolving how the region supports its diverse members and the communities they serve and represent. In doing so, they have truly embodied the motto, "For Central, I Serve!"

Sorors Tucker and Miller, we thank you for all that you have done on behalf of the Central Region and our beloved sisterhood - We ❤ you!
