Tony Stewart | Hall of Fame

Tony Stewart is the only driver ever to have won championships in both the IndyCar Series (1997) and the NASCAR Cup series (2002, 2005, 2011).

The Columbus, Indiana native took his place in IMS history when he won the 2005 Brickyard 400, becoming the first Indiana-born driver since Wilbur Shaw in 1940 to win at IMS. He then won again in 2007.

The Museum currently has Tony's 2005 winner on display in the "NASCAR at the Speedway" exhibit.

Gordon Johncock on his way to winning the 1973 Indianapolis 500. A difficult, tragic race for all involved, Gordy's win was a bit of a letdown. He made up for it in 1982, however, with a race with Rick Mears that went down to the wire. Many were glad to see Gordy take his second victory in such a dramatic, unforgettable fashion. The finish remains one of the closest in Speedway history.
