The holidays are coming — a season built on connection, generosity, and heart. But for small business owners, it’s also the season that can make or break their year.

Every gift you buy, every coffee you grab, every service you choose locally helps keep someone’s dream alive.

Support local before there isn’t anything local left to support.

Hey Locust Grove / Northeast Oklahoma friends —
I’ve missed you. I’ve missed this space. I’ve missed the heartbeat of a community I love.

I’ll be honest — I got burnt out. I stepped away because I realized Local Vibe Magazine was drifting off course from my original vision, and I didn’t like where it was headed. So I took a much-needed break to pause, breathe, re-evaluate, and adjust my sails.

And now … I’m back.

My original goal was to highlight all of Northeast Oklahoma — and I’ll get there eventually. But right now, my focus is home. Locust Grove.

Here’s the truth: many of the businesses I’ve interviewed over the past year are no longer open — at least not on Main Street. Since the Cherokee Turnpike opened back in 1991, things have slowly shifted — traffic, growth, and focus — and Main Street has struggled to bounce back. I keep hearing, “It’s just too hard to succeed in this town.”

The west side is fading, and most things are moving to the east side. But I refuse to believe that’s how this story ends. I want to see Locust Grove thrive again. I want people to care again.

I can’t make anyone care — but if you don’t, please step aside and stop griping.
If you do care — step forward. Let’s do something about it.

Griping about what Locust Grove doesn’t have doesn’t solve anything. Action does.

So tell me — what service-based businesses or activities would you like to see here in town?
We’ve got plenty of auto shops and salons … let’s think bigger. What could truly serve, inspire, or connect our community?

And here’s another question — what takes you to other towns?
What do they offer that keeps you driving away from home to shop, eat, or enjoy yourself? Let’s identify the gaps so we can start filling them — right here.

Share your vision with me — comment below or send me a message (but please, no anonymous replies — that’s just annoying 😄).

I believe in Locust Grove.
Do you?

Let’s make it happen — together.

☕️✨ SEPTEMBER ISSUE IS HERE ✨☕️

This month, Local Vibe Magazine is pouring up more than just coffee—we’re serving stories that will jolt your heart and maybe make you snort-laugh in public.

➡️ Meet Travelers’ Coffee Roasters, a family brewing up adventure in every cup.
➡️ Hang out with Our House Coffee Co., where “community” is always on the menu.
➡️ And (because I apparently enjoy public humiliation) dive into my own messy, hilarious, raw & real journey: 50 Shades of Fit(ish) … emphasis on the “ish.” Spoiler: it hasn’t started out great, but at least there’s caffeine.

Whether you love coffee, good stories, or watching someone try to get their act together before turning 50—this issue’s for you.

👉 Grab your mug, kick back, and read the September 2025 issue now. Your vibe deserves it.

Sittin' here, peckin' on my keyboard, finishing up my article on when I got the urge to make me an Americano with the beans they sent home with me (Take Flight). I thought it would be perfectly paired with my mug from one of my favorite adventures with my son.

I'll save that memory for another day....I've gotta get busy!

Btw...their online store is OPEN. Head on over there and grab your bag of beans!

✨ If you noticed a little extra quiet on the Local Vibe front in August… you’re right. I pressed “pause.”

July had me juggling life, work, and deadlines like a caffeinated circus act, and burnout was the final act. So, I took a much-needed vacation, traded my laptop for sunsets, and came back with fresh ideas (and fewer eye twitches).

Now I’m diving into the September Issue—and it’s a special one… our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY 🎉

Thank you to every current and future reader who’s been part of this ride. Buckle up—year two is about to get even better. 💛
