This one nearly broke me — months chasing duct board that didn't exist on Amazon, didn't exist at Walmart, got the wrong kind twice, hauled the right stuff back from the local dock, then hand-cut, assembled, and sealed every single one myself.

Building a recording studio from scratch means projects like this that nobody ever sees or thinks about — but they have to be right, or nothing else works.

🎙️ Studio Intern / Future Engineer — Lutz/Tampa | Ground Floor Opportunity**

I'm building a professional tracking studio in Lutz — three rooms, designed by a top acoustician, built to track full live bands properly. Rock, Metal, Country, Reggae. A real room.

We're about 6 months from opening, and I'm looking for the right person **now** — not when the doors open.

Here's the deal: this starts as an internship. You'll get hands-on training, real mix assistant work you can do remotely right away, and a front-row seat to how a serious studio gets built from the ground up. If you're the right fit, this grows into a full-time position when we open.

When I graduated from Madison Media Institute 25 years ago, I didn't walk into a finished studio. I busted walls, ran cable, poured concrete, and built something before I ever became really good at recording bands. That experience made me the engineer I am. I'm looking for someone hungry enough to do the same.

**What you need:**
✅ 2+ years experience minimum
✅ Pro Tools and Ableton Live — mandatory
✅ Mac only — also mandatory
✅ Know how to properly record live instruments
✅ Comfortable editing, comping, and drawing automation
✅ WaveLab knowledge is a big bonus

**You'll also be helping with:**
Client intake, content creation, Meta ads, basic CRM work — building the brand alongside the room.

One thing I really love about modern Analog Mastering is when artists send both the final mixes and the full Ableton session.

If something needs adjustment before mastering — low end, harshness, vocals, balance, transitions, whatever — I can jump directly into the session, make precision mix changes, then send it straight back through the analog chain without breaking the vibe.

That hybrid workflow is insanely powerful. Digital flexibility with real analog depth, movement, glue, and energy.

If you’re aspiring to become a professional mastering engineer and you’re not completely rich, chances are you’ll eventually end up learning woodworking too. Hopefully most of you paid attention in shop class 😂
