You might not know this, but the working title of our new album was New York Sessions. Among many other things, We Were Made For These Times is a love letter to the city where it all started nearly 40 years ago.
This weekend, The Klezmatics and Roots and Chords Music officially wrapped up the first chapter of our 40th-anniversary celebration, and we want to thank everyone who helped bring this project into the world.
Special thanks to our extraordinary collaborators: SofĂa Rei, Joshua Nelson, Eric Williamson, Lavender Light Gospel Choir, Janis Siegel, Enver İzmaylov, James Brandon Lewis, William Parker, La Manga, Angela Gabriel, Holly Near and all the artists, singers, musicians, and friends who contributed their talent and spirit to these songs.
Deep gratitude to Danny Blume for producing, engineering, and mixing the album; Alan Silverman for mastering; Ann Nikolaienko, Alyona Krasytska, Aleksei Sokolov, Leila Wice, Alexandra Litvinova, Dmitry Rozin, and Nail Mubinov for helping create the visual world of the project; and to Jeremy Delaney, Will Bryant, David Darlington, and everyone behind the scenes who helped bring the music, videos, and story of this album to life.
Thanks to our partners at Shamus Records, Asphalt Tango Records, Girlie Action Media, Singing Resistance, Kaleidoscope Sound, Falcon Studio and all the presenters, venues, festivals, journalists, photographers, videographers, designers, and community partners who supported this journey.
And most importantly, thank you to everyone who donated, bought a ticket, pre-ordered an album, listened, shared a post, brought a friend, sang along, or simply believed in this project.
We were made for these times.
More to come soon. Stay tuned klezmatics.com
