Perhaps many of our listeners have heard of the latest ‘issue’ confronting CCM ministries. The shortcut version is a very popular artist, an artist that has played a significant role in the music we’ve all enjoyed and found ministry in, has been publicly exposed for his horrible actions. Every time this happens, and it happens occasionally, ends up hurting not just the individual involved but those standing near them as well. Such is the case again this time. It’s sad and embarrassing to have a self proclaimed spokesmen, singing for the Gospel, shamed. We have for years ‘policed’ the artist played on the station and over those years have pulled over 3 dozen artist from our rotation. Sadly, but definitely correctly, we just pulled 19 songs from the artist referred to here. We have immediately pulled the music from the Newsboys song list that featured Michael Tait as the vocalist, those songs generally began in 2009 thru the present, as well as the music from DC Talk.

Historically, in 1988 when we started the process of getting WBVN on the air, two national ministries had publicly failed, and humiliated the people that followed/supported those ministries and the whole Church. However, the Gospel did not collapse, we did not throw out the baby with the bathwater, the Church continued to minister in spite of those very public failures. Even today, with the failures of literally dozens of ‘Gospel spokesmen’ (those artist we have pulled over the years) thousands of ministry songs from the other artist have continued to bless. Our confidence is that not one of those artists can destroy the impact that this music has given to so many. There have always been failures of ministry people, but ministry itself continues. This station's confidence and faith is that God speaks to us through the skills and talents of thousands of people each day. Sometimes artist fail but God’s Spirit does not. Transparency in necessary and hurts but we are comforted by the Gospel message being more powerful that some of its spokesmen. Join us as we pray for the Spirit of God to heal hearts during a very stressful and disappointing time.
