Panthers sports update for Friday May 29th, 2026

LAST NIGHT: The Panther girls soccer team ended its season with a 8-0 loss to Davenport North in the Playoff Quarterfinals

TONIGHT: The Panther soccer boys continue their quest to reach State as they travel to Cedar Rapids Xavier for a 7pm kick. Win and they are in! Also tonight, the Panther baseball team will be in Muscatine and the softball team will head north to Mid Prairie

TOMORROW: The baseball team heads over to Winfield for a game against Albia

MAY 30 There will be an Open Mic Comedy Night Saturday at the Mt Pleasant Golf & Country Club starting at 7pm. It’s your opportunity to Step Up, Grab the Mic, and Make them Laugh!

WEEKEND • It’s Farmer’s Market Season! The Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market runs each Saturday through October 17. Market times are from 8:30 – 11 am in the Wright Family Pavillion at McMillan Park on the Midwest Old Threshers Grounds

Playing this weekend at the Temple Theatre of Mt. Pleasant in Mount Pleasant is The Mandalorian and Grogu and The Breadwinner (Nate Bargatze)

JUNE 22 The Mt. Pleasant Community Theatre is sponsoring a Children’s Theatre Workshop and Play Performance from June 22 – 26. “The School for Spies” will be from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm daily during the week with the final play being performed on Friday, June 26 at 6pm. This is for ages 7 – 18. Register at www.our.show/spies

JULY 3 & JULY 4 Celebrate the 4th in Mount Pleasant! Events kickoff downtown on Friday, July 3 at 4:30 with the Time Capsule Reveal followed by Live Music, Kids Games, Bouncy Houses, BBQ by Rotary and more. Then on Saturday things move to McMillan Park for a parade at 5 pm, meet your heroes, trolley rides, family activities, live music and of course, fireworks at dark.

Panthers sports update for Thursday May 28th, 2026:

LAST NIGHT: HUGE NIGHT FOR THE PANTHERS! First the Mount Pleasant boys soccer team beat Pella 1-0 to advance to the Class 3A – Sub-state 4 Championship on Friday in Cedar Rapids where they will face CR Xavier who beat Clinton 4-1 last night.

AND THEN -- the Panther softballers beat 15th ranked Central Lee. Looking at the box score shows the Panthers with a 6 – 1 lead going into the 5th inning. Central Lee exploded for 8 runs in the 5th and 6th before Mount Pleasant rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th and held on for the 10-9 win.

TONIGHT: The Panther girls soccer team starts its journey towards the state tournament tonight as they travel to Davenport North for a 7pm kick in the Class 2A – Region 4 Quarterfinals

MAY 28 Kindergarten Graduation will be held at the Central Campus Chapel today, beginning at 1pm

MAY 28 Head on out to your Hy-Vee this evening for a steak supper for a cause. $2 in benefits from every meal goes to support Mount Pleasant Emergency Responders. The meal is from 4 - 6

MAY 29 Tomorrow is the last day of school in Mount Pleasant.

JUNE 11 The Community Band will perform in Central Park at 7pm on Thursday, June 11

JUNE 13 Mount Pleasant Vets Hall-VFW is hosting the 3rd Annual “Thank You is Never Enough” Ride on Saturday, June 13. The ride starts at 10:30. Freewill supper starting at 5. There will also be a quilt of valor presentation, an auction and raffles.

JUNE 19 The June Veterans Breakfast at the Mount Pleasant Vets Hall-VFW will be on Friday, June 19 at 8:30 am. Join them for good food, good friends, useful information and a Quilt of Valor Presentation

JUNE 19 Music on Main will be held at Central Park in Mt Pleasant on Friday, June 19 from 5-9 pm. This event is presented by Main Street Mount Pleasant and Henry County Farm Bureau and will be a special night of celebrating the local agriculture community! Enjoy live music, great food, and a fun, family-friendly atmosphere right in the heart of downtown.
