American Idol may be coming to Murphy one week from today, depending on the results Monday night.

"I’ve had a lot of folks asking about timing, so we’re ready to share that now so you can go ahead and mark your calendars," Murphy Mayor Tim Radford said.

If Braden makes the Top 3, here’s the plan:

> Downtown Parade at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 6
> Free Concert at Konehete Veterans Park at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 6

These events would be filmed by American Idol and featured in its Hometown Heroes segments on an upcoming episode.

"This is a big opportunity for our community, and we’re excited about the possibility of welcoming them here," Radford said. "It all comes down to Monday night, so your votes matter."

"We also have a chance here to show what Murphy is all about," he said. "We can support one another, take pride in someone else’s success, and continue lifting each other up as a community.

"Let’s keep supporting one of our own and hopefully get ready for a great day in Murphy," Radford said.

Local burn bans lifted

The LOCAL Cherokee County burn ban that was issued on 03/28/2026 is lifted immediately.

This decision is based upon recent rainfall, improved fuel moisture conditions, and conversation with local forestry officials.
This only applies to areas in the county within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling.
Greater than 100 feet of an occupied dwelling is the jurisdiction of NC Forestry and as of right now that ban iS STILL ON.
Information will be shared when that ban is lifted.

Please use extreme caution when doing any outdoor burning.

Kevin Carter
Fire Marshal

Note: The Town of Murphy also lifted its burn ban.
