The NCHSAA has released the full schedule for next week’s state football championship games, and two local teams, Murphy and Robbinsville, are heading to the big stage.

Robbinsville will play first. The Black Knights face Wilson Prep in the 1A State Championship on Thursday, December 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Kenan Stadium on the UNC–Chapel Hill campus. Robbinsville is looking to bring another title back to Graham County.

Murphy takes the field on Saturday, December 13. The Bulldogs will meet Tarboro in the 2A State Championship at Moretz Stadium on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Murphy hopes to cap off its season with another historic championship win. This game will be broadcast live on WKRK.

The rest of the championship matchups will take place across Chapel Hill, Hickory, and Durham throughout the weekend, but all eyes in Western North Carolina will be on Robbinsville Thursday afternoon and Murphy Saturday evening as both programs chase state titles.

The Town of Murphy is getting ready for tonight’s Christmas Parade, and folks are encouraged to pick their viewing spot anywhere between the Valley Village Shopping Center and the L&N Depot.

For the safety of spectators and participants, the entire parade route will close to traffic around 5:45 p.m. This includes major intersections, side streets, and portions of the downtown area. No vehicles will be allowed once the closures begin, so everyone is urged to arrive early to grab a good spot and avoid traffic delays.
