"The Maid," by Nita Prose

"The Maid" is a fun and engaging mystery featuring Molly, a quirky maid who sees the world a little differently than most people.

Molly doesn’t always fit in. She’s sometimes brutally honest, follows her own way of doing things, and has a remarkable ability to notice things that most other people miss.

When a murder occurs at the hotel where she works, Molly finds herself drawn into solving a mystery that others haven’t been able to figure out.

Along the way, she discovers something perhaps even more important—a sense of belonging and people she can call her own.

An entertaining mystery with a curious—and very memorable—main character.

The Stories We Tell 🎨✍🏼📝

Writing, drawing, and painting are different ways of telling a story. A writer uses words to create a picture in the reader’s mind. An artist uses lines, shapes, color, and light to tell a story the viewer can interpret.

A writer may spend a paragraph describing an old house. An artist may capture it with a few strokes of a pencil or brush. One gives us the words to imagine it; the other gives us the image to interpret.

Someone writes about what happened. Another draws what they saw. And another paints how the moment felt. Years later, all three can tell us something about a time or place that would otherwise be lost.

Some stories remind us where we’ve been. Others allow us to visit somewhere we’ve never been.

Creativity doesn’t require the same language from everyone. Some people tell stories with words. Some with pencils. Some with paint. Whether we use words, lines, or color, we’re all trying to tell someone something.

The medium changes - The desire to tell a story remains

Today is National Read a Book Day—a perfect excuse to put the phone down, find a comfortable chair, and get lost in a good story. 📖😊

Whether it’s a mystery that keeps you guessing, a novel that takes you somewhere new, a memoir that makes you see life a little differently, or an old favorite you’ve read a dozen times, there’s something special about spending time with a good book.

Reading can help us relax, exercise our minds, learn something new, and—perhaps best of all—give us a few hours away from the noise of everyday life. 📚✨

So today, find a book you’ve been meaning to read, visit your local library or bookstore, or pick up an old favorite.

However you choose to celebrate, we hope you find a good story and a little time to enjoy it.

📚 A Little Key West Bookstore Gem

While touring Key West, we stumbled across this wonderful little independent bookstore—and what a find!

Key West Island Bookstore is packed with books, with a particularly large selection of used titles and plenty of books by local Key West and South Florida authors. There are also new releases, rare books, classics, Hemingway, local history, and plenty of unexpected treasures waiting on the shelves.

I love bookstores where you can walk in without knowing exactly what you’re looking for and simply browse. You never know what you’ll discover—or what forgotten favorite might find its way back into your hands.

If you’re a book lover visiting Key West, put this one on your list. It’s just one block off Duval Street at 513 Fleming Street.

Sometimes the best finds are the ones you weren’t looking for. 📖🌴
