One of the many ways to start fighting perfectionism is to consider if our actions, motivations, or impulses are being triggered by the perceived (or real!) judgements of others or from a genuine and compassionate place within ourselves. 🫂

💬When discussing this quote, we thought a lot about how we are often our own harshest critics and one way we interpreted this quote was by thinking about the “other” within ourselves and digging into where that harshness comes from.

It can be easy for our mind to default to a negative bias because it can be more difficult to work through the gray areas and nuances of comments, especially when we are on edge, tired, or overwhelmed.

💬This quote from Dan Siegel highlights the important work that is slowing down the time between comment/stimulus and reaction in order to have space for curiosity with ourselves and each other. Eventually, hopefully we can give ourselves time to explore why we are feeling or reacting a certain way before we enter into a fight we don’t even really want to have.
