Yesterday brought several rounds of strong to severe storms from Lake Okeechobee into Martin and Palm Beach counties.

The storms tracked southeastward, and once they collided with the Florida Atlantic seabreeze boundary, they rapidly intensified into a cluster of severe storms that tracked across the sugarcane region of Western Palm Beach County. - June 2, 2026

After filming some intense Florida storm structure in Martin, Okeechobee, and Palm Beach Counties, we rode out the rest of the storm on a side road, full of sugarcane.

Ongoing severe thunderstorm in Central Palm Beach County right now, with an additional strong storm near Boynton Beach and one along the Martin-Palm Beach County line.

I’ll be heading out shortly for additional storms expected to develop going into this evening, with some of them potentially being strong to severe.

Quite the impressive view right now over northern Lake Okeechobee, where a prescribed burn is underway from FWC on Eagle Bay Island and Kings Bar. - June 2, 2026 | 1:33pm ET.

At first, I thought it was another grass fire within the lakebed region of Lake Okeechobee like earlier this spring when I noticed it pop up on Doppler radar from the smoke plume. After research, it was a scheduled burn approved by the Florida Forestry.

Incredible cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning occurred during a mature sea breeze thunderstorm in Central Florida. The boundary collision produced a barrage of vivid strikes for 25 minutes before the storm dissipated as rapidly as it developed.

Some portions of Florida are still experiencing very dry conditions. Thunderstorm outflow winds over the weekend kicked up quite a bit of exposed soil in the agricultural regions of interior, South Florida.
