We came to with no expectations, but left with a whole lot more. 🥹❤️ [ad]

Our time at Camp Camp was so free, carefree, and healing. We’ve honestly never experience anything like it! Walking into a predominantly white space as two Black women, we weren’t sure exactly what to expect. But from the moment we arrived, we were met with so much love, openness, and genuine community.

It forced the walls we had up to come all the way down. The beauty about that is that there aren’t many spaces like Camp Camp where we can feel safe in doing that. That alone stood out most to us.

But, our FAVORITE part was the diversity in AGE. Campers ranged from 21 to 80 years old, all showing up as themselves, making friends, laughing, dancing, learning, healing, and reminding us that there’s no age limit on finding your people. There was someone there who met Rosa Parks, like IRL!

Our week at Camp Camp reminded us what it feels like to just walk into a room and not have to explain yourself. Literally, the best feeling!

We’ll be talking about this one for a very LONG time. 🏕️🌈

Okay cousins, let us put y’all on to something we wish we knew sooner! 👀

When booking a Frontier flight online, you may see a Carrier Interface Charge (CIC) added to your ticket.

Did you know you can avoid paying that fee by buying your tickets at the airport?

Instead of paying that fee online, we went to the airport and purchased tickets for two trips at the Frontier counter and we saved $57. 💰 This is our second time doing this. The first time we saved almost $90. For a family, that could be some serious savings!

Now, before y’all run to the airport, a few things to know:

🎟️ Check the current fee and ticketing policies before you go
💰 Make sure the savings are actually worth the trip to the airport. Don’t go riding up there to save just $7, that’s silly! 🤪
🧾 Ask the agent for the total price before purchasing
✈️ Make sure to have your ID, Frontier Rewards number if you have it, and method of payment. I was able to book for me and Chantell without her being there, just needed her information

A $57 savings is a $57 savings! 🙌🏾 & we only live 30 mins away from the airport, so it’s nothing to us to drive up there real quick.

At this point, we’re in a state of confusion! One minute we’re asking ourselves why we thought this was a good idea, and the next, we’re stopping to take in the views like we’ve never complained a day in our lives. 😆

But, we truly do love it here! Hiking can be challenging, transformative, and healing all in one. Love a multilayered activityyyyy!

Imma be honest, marrying a girl from Louisiana has its perks because I get access to this goodness for the rest of my life. 😂

It’s no secret New Orleans has one of the best food scenes in the world (argue with ya mama! 😂), and in our opinion, no trip is complete without eating your way through the city.

Riding the streetcar in New Orleans is a fun, scenic, and cost effective way to explore the city, especially beyond the French Quarter. It’s our go-to method of transportation on all of our trips.

And get this. You can ride for an entire weekend for less than $10! HELLOOOO! 🙌🏾

HERE are 3 tips to know before hopping on:

📲 Download the Le Pass app to your phone and purchase the Jazzy Pass. A single ride is $1.25, but if you’re there for a weekend, it’ll be better to get the 3 day Jazzy Pass.

🚏Make sure you know where your stop is located and which streetcar route to ride. The Le Pass app does a great job at giving your directions. Each car stop is noted by a sign as well.

🪑Try to snag a window seat for the best views and breeze. This may be harder on popular lines like St Charles, but it’s still worth a try!

For the ultimate New Orleans experience, take a break from the rideshares and hop on the streetcar instead! ⚜️
