Did you know? ⭐️

Flagstaff was the first city in the world recognized for protecting its night skies, earning International Dark Sky City status 25 years ago this October.

Since then, communities around the world have followed Flagstaff's lead in reducing light pollution and preserving access to the stars.

Here are some celestial events to get you in the Dark Sky spirit this month:

June 27 - Bootid Meteor Shower Peaks - peaks at about 100 meteors per hour.
June 29 - Strawberry Moon - summer's first official full moon.
July 6 - Earth at Aphelion - Earth reaches a point furthest from the sun in it's orbit.
July 14 - New Moon - the sky will be darkest at this time, you'll be able to see the Milky Way everywhere in Flagstaff!
July 29 - Full Buck Moon - July's full moon, named after the rapid growth of male Mule deer's antlers at this time.
July 30-31 - Delta Aquariids Meteor Shower Peak - expect 15-25 meteors per hour coming from the constellation Aquarius.

Which stellar event are you most excited to see?

There have been a lot of questions over the last few weeks, and we're committed to providing more answers.

Join us for our next Town Hall Meeting as we share updates on the organization, answer community questions, and provide more details about this year's Phoenix Pride Festival & Parade, including our new downtown location and what you can expect this October.

This is an opportunity to hear directly from Phoenix Pride leadership, learn more about our plans for the future, and help shape the conversations ahead.

We want to hear from you. Visit our Linktree to submit a question in advance and reserve your ticket for the Town Hall. A virtual attendance option will also be available. The meeting location will be announced closer to the event.

Together, we'll talk about where we've been, where we're going, and what comes next for Phoenix Pride.
