Deep Red (1974) may be the most complete example of a giallo film. It's dark, twisted, vibrant, and artistically realized horror. Dario Argento shines here with a complex visual language and a tightly crafted. if fantastical, mystery. This is a must watch for fans of slashers or giallo films.

Hell of the living Dead, or Virus, or Zombie Creeping Flesh, or Night of the Zombie, or whatever name you call this 1980 Italian Zombie exploitation film is a so bad it's good example of trashy Italian Splatter Horror, written by the same genius who gave us the masterpiece that is Troll 2.

The Dark Half (1993) might be Romero's most restrained and most underrated film. In another team up with Stephen King, he delivers both a compelling domestic horror and a giallo-esque horror focused on a writer and his pseudonym who comes to life.

Blood & Rust (2026) is a modern take on vampires which shows how horror movie monsters can adapt to the societies and cultures that create them. A veiled metaphor for wealth inequality and the decline of the American Dream, this 96 minute film is a good watch for fans of character driven vampire stories.

Archai (2024) Horror FIlm Movie Review Folk Horror Home Invasion Dread Alert MediaArchai (2024) is available on Tubi. This Italian indie horror movie is more than a folk horror film, it is a home invasion film and a religious horror film as well. It's exceptionally well done and leaves you with pressing questions about the effects of our decisions and the value of human life. I highly recommend checking it out.

Something Animal (2011) is a dark, gritty, and realistic look at vampires. This horror graphic novel is unflinching in its depiction of grief, and leaves you wondering if our protagonist is spiraling into madness or if he is truly becoming something animal.
