Great example of why it's important to stay tuned to the forecast! Tonight's coastal storm has been a headache for days, and the trends in the past 24 hours have been for a widespread, plowable snow to reach the coast of Maine tonight. Totals of up to a half foot are now expected with locally higher amounts possible, especially Midcoast/Downeast Maine. Mostly quiet during the day today, snow begins after sunset this evening and continues all night. Snow totals drop off quite a bit as you head north.

Good morning! Here's a look at snow totals from yesterday- most got more than we were expecting as temps stayed cold and the snow remained fairly fluffy, allowing it to stack up. More moisture than expected with this system also gave totals a boost. Most saw 2-5" of snow, it stuck to the trees in such a beautiful way!

A coastal storm passes offshore Sunday night into early Monday. If this was 50-100 miles to the west, we'd be talking about widespread plowable snow. Instead, the storm will pass too far offshore for major impacts, but the trends have been for most of us to see at least some snow Sunday night into early Monday. Thinking a coating-2" for most with higher amounts Midcoast/Downeast. A slight shift west would mean snow extends even further inland, a shift east means little more than a coating. Either way, not too big of a deal.

Little forecast update for you this morning, snow falling steadily in downtown Portland, looking very pretty! Another round of snow is likely tomorrow night. A coastal storm will pass by too far offshore for high snow totals, but it should come close enough for a couple inches in many spots along the coast. Any shifts closer to Maine mean more of us are included in the light snow accumulations. Still won’t be anything significant. Have a great long weekend!

Good morning all! Back after a few days off this week, and we're tracking snow for your Saturday! It's falling lightly in many spots right snow with slick roads developing across the state. It will continue to fall through the day, steadiest in the early afternoon, before wrapping up this evening. 1-3" for most with slightly more in western Maine and NH, as well as portions of eastern Maine. Along the immediate coast, some rain may mix in which will cut back totals a bit. Travel likely not too bad this afternoon as temps hover around/just above freezing. Drive safe!

Hard to believe it’s been 2 years already since the devastating coastal storms of January 2024. Within 3 days most locations along the coast of Maine saw 2 top 5 coastal flood events, with the January 13th storm beating out the blizzard of ‘78 for worst coastal storm in state history. Will never forget the images of the fishing shacks in South Portland washing away or the damage to multiple lighthouses up and down the coast. Thankfully much quieter this year!!

Thanks for waking up with Leeann Stapleton News and I this morning! After a really nice, mild day today, we’re tracking some snow headed our way for tonight. This arrives 8-10pm for western Maine and central and southern Maine, closer to midnight towards downeast Maine. Not much expected on the coast, but northern Maine will likely see around a half foot with 3-5” expected across the mountains. Some freezing rain or sleet is also possible on top of the snow. Most of this is done before tomorrow, but a few snow showers will persist on Sunday. Have a great day and enjoy the mild temps!

Good morning everyone! It’s a snowy Wednesday AM commute- nothing we haven’t seen so far this winter but definitely plenty of slick spots this morning. Should see big improvements this afternoon!

Another one on the way for tonight into tomorrow morning, looks like light snow with a change to some freezing rain (gross) early tomorrow morning. Snow amounts highest in the mountains, so nice refresh for the ski resorts, with around an inch of snow along the coast tomorrow AM followed by a glaze of ice. Surfaces will be slick tomorrow AM and delays and even a few cancellations look likely. Luckily, won’t be enough ice to lead to power issues or anything like that. Sunny and 40° by Thursday afternoon!

Happy first Monday of the new year! After a touch of snow with a clipper yesterday, a more robust clipper system will swing through tonight bringing most 1-3" of snow, with lesser amounts to the north. Begins this evening as the commute is winding down and should wrap up before sunrise tomorrow. Big fluff factor so should be easy to clean up, but could be some slick spots in the AM tomorrow.
