In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, I cut together this little montage from of a short film I worked on for the Damnationland film festival in 2019 (the full length is around 12 min). Every so often a creative narrative project comes along and I am able to claim the coveted "cinematographer" credit. This was a fun one and it has only been shared with select crowds that enjoyed 2019's screenings.
SPOILER AHEAD: Horror is not my particular genre but I had some ideas to contribute to the director's story. I didn''t have cinema-quality cameras at the time, but this was going to be a "found footage" style piece so I used my professional ENG-style camcorder to mimic a mobile phone held by hand. Its unique "night mode" feature was perfect for the latter scenes when the lights went out. I had a vision editing this one with most of the effects being sound design and "electrical interference" from the poltergeist.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this sample of some of the more creative work we're capable of!

I had the opportunity to shoot a few performances by Anni Clark inside the historic United States Custom House in Portland recently. If you've never seen or been inside, it's a beautifully preserved/restored building. Little has changed in the grand custom hall since is was built save for the lighting.
We collaborated with Bonfire Films to create this video for Maine Career Connect's website. MCC is a concierge service from the Maine State Chamber of Commerce which partners with many large employers in the area to welcome new Mainers to Portland and other job centers in the state.
