Juan Soto is still an amazin’ hitter.
For the 2026 MLB season, he has posted:
294 AVG390 OBP559 SLG
10 HR
21 RBI
22 R
170 OPS+
163 wRC+
The numbers are great despite Soto missing some time in April due to a right calf strain (the Mets slugger was also a late scratch on Sunday because of an illness).
By all accounts, New York’s big acquisition has done his part in trying to carry the New York Mets back to contention.
Unfortunately, this is baseball. And as good as one player is, it is almost impossible to be an instant game-changer for the franchise.
Among qualified hitters, only MJ Melendez has a wRC+ above 100 in New York’s starting lineup.
The Mets have tumbled after a Subway Series win over the Yankees, losing 5 of their next 6 games, and are still last place in the National League East standings ðŸ˜
