In honor of the men, women and families of the United States military who have given the ultimate sacrifice, the Quitman Free Press will be closed Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. Next Wednesday's edition will be delivered one day late. We will reopen with normal business hours Tuesday, May 26.

ELECTION REMINDERS: Polls for the General Primary and Special Election (SPLOST) are open until 7 p.m. today. Remember to bring a state-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, Georgia voter ID card or passport. Any voter who is in line at their polling location by 7 p.m. has the right to stay in line until they are able to cast their vote, even after the polls have closed. Per Georgia Code 21-2-409, voters 75 and older, or disabled voters who require assistance, may move to the front of the line.

If poll workers are unable to locate your voter information but you are confident in your registration status, you may request a provisional ballot and will have three days to solve your eligibility issues in order for your vote to count. If you make a mistake on your ballot, you may request a new one from a nearby poll worker.
