The City of Quitman will hold its first annual Juneteenth celebration this Friday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on South Lee Street

Live performances will include Michael "Saxxy Mike" Spencer, Ayonna Charese and Rehab and West African Dancers. A special tribute to the life and legacy of Mary Turner will also be held.

Vendors, food trucks and family activities will be present.

The Brooks County Board of Tax Assessors’ regular meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

All meetings are scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. in the
Brooks County Commissioners’ meeting room.

Requests to be added to the agenda should be received by
the Friday preceding the meeting.
