Our first stop after selling everything and hitting the road took us onto an active volcano.

We hiked into Bumpass Hell at Lassen Volcanic National Park with the kids — boiling pools, steam vents, and ground hot enough that stepping off the trail can seriously burn you.

This was one of those places that made us stop and think, “This is really what we’re doing now.”

Our first full Wild Bunch Family episode is up on YouTube. If you haven’t seen it yet, we’d love for you to check it out:

Our first episode is officially live!

About a year ago, we sold our house so we could spend more time together and show our kids more of the world. Now, we’re finally sharing that journey.

Episode One begins at Lassen Volcanic National Park—with volcanic landscapes, an unexpectedly difficult hike, and the reality of learning how to move a family of five around the country.

This has been a long time coming, so watching, commenting, or sharing the episode would mean a lot to us. If you watch it, tell us: What was your favorite moment?

We moved from Victoria, BC North on Vancouver Island to a town called Parksville where it seemed like the whole town was out enjoying the beautiful sunset over the ocean.

Let us know if you know any cool stuff to do in the area.

We’re the Wild Bunch Family

We’ve been on the road full time for six months. We sold our house one year ago in order to travel full time with our kids while they’re still young. We’ve towed our fifth wheel trailer over ten thousand miles across America in that short time. We home school our kids which is difficult for me as a D and F student. My wife Nikita and I are learning with them as we teach them what’s really important in this world. Grades don’t matter.

We’re just getting started

We came back to our campground today to find no water pressure. When I went outside I saw the camp host and they said somebody ran over a water post in another part of the camp. They fixed it but they’re trying to get the pressure back. If we didn’t have water in our tank, we would’ve been without water until the water returned. Lesson learned…always keep water in your tank.

The service center had to keep our home/RV for another day. Our brakes were worn down to bare metal in some places. So they had to add to the work order (and bill). We have to be out of our hotel by noon tomorrow. Hopefully they get the brakes done by 11 so we can cram everything in and head out. In the meantime we went down to the waterfront to hang for a bit. The kids played and as we were leaving we saw these local kids jumping off this concrete drain into the lake. It was a fun time.
