Date of Event: arrive November 1, 2024, depart November 3, 2024.
Hotel: Harbor View Hotel, 131 N Water Street, Edgartown, MA. The hotel is now taking reservations. Suggest you book NOW. Group has reserved 15 rooms, possibly more if those fill up early. The discounted rate is 245.00 per night (not including taxes, fees, gratuities, etc.) in Historic Building of Harbor View Hotel “King Room.” Arrival date is Friday November 1, 2024, Checkout is Sunday November 3, 2024. Two nights stay minimum. Call hotel at 508-627-7000 to make your own reservation. Please mention “British Cars” when you call to get the group rate. Please ask about Cancellation/Refund Policy for this booking. Understanding the Cancellation Policy is your responsibility. Reservations must be made by Sept 30th, 2024. These rooms will probably go fast, so please book ASAP if you want to go.
Ferry: Massachusetts Steamship Authority. The group suggests you make your ferry reservations ASAP for a round-trip Woods Hole – Vineyard Haven, MV. You can make reservations on-line at www.SteamshipAuthority.com or call 508 477 8600. The group organizers suggest you take the mid-morning sailing on Nov 1. For the return, many choose a sailing between noon and 2:30PM. Ferry sailings should be monitored as they can be delayed due to congestion, weather, mechanical issues, etc.
Activities:
Friday, Nov 1: you are on your own to explore MV, shop, drive, wander. A group dinner for Friday evening is being considered.
Saturday, Nov 2: at 10:15 – 10:30AM, the group will gather at the Tashmoo Overlook just outside of Vineyard Haven, where the weekend itinerary and tour directions will be distributed. At 10:45, group will embark on a 2–3-hour road tour, do lunch in Oak Bluff, shopping and enjoying the island, and then meet at the hotel bar and veranda at about 5 PM. A group dinner for Saturday evening is being considered.
Sunday, Nov 3: Sunday morning, the group organizers will offer tour options with directions that you can drive on your own.
A drive and hike to Prospect Hill. The highest point overlook in all the Cape and Islands.
A short drive and ferry ride to Chappaquiddick Island and the Mytoi Japanese gardens. A self-directed walking tour of Poly Hill Arboretum. Optional stop at the Alpaca Farm on the return to the ferry.
Everyone is on their own for Sunday lunch and to catch their scheduled ferry.
