“I Play Beauty” started with a single insight pulled from our Gen Z research network: beauty enthusiasts were already treating their passion with the same dedication as gaming, music, and sports — a true hobby — they just didn’t have the cultural permission to say so. Our job was to give them that language, and build a movement around it.

We worked alongside an exceptional team at IPSY — who inspired us daily and trusted us to go beyond advertising and into culture.

They said funk wasn’t for people like him. Dornelles proved them wrong.

Born and raised in Olaria, Dornelles grew up hearing the beats of rebellion. “I always thought what funk artists sang back then was bold and brave. Singing about what society tries to hide, that’s what drew me in.”

During the pandemic, he sold sweets in his neighborhood to fund his first music video, the moment that changed everything.  Now, his music celebrates visibility and defies every rule about masculinity in funk.
