🐯 BEVAN EMBRACES LEADERSHIP, COMMITS TO ITHACA COLLEGE‼️🥍

Tunkhannock rising senior attack and midfielder Madelyn Bevan caught up with NEPA Lacrosse shortly after announcing her commitment to continue her academic and lacrosse career at Division III Ithaca College.

Bevan has developed into one of the Lady Tigers’ leading offensive players and enters her senior season with 94 career goals. She scored 33 as a freshman, 25 as a sophomore and 36 during her junior campaign.

She was named Tunkhannock’s Offensive Player of the Year last season, received the program’s Triple D Award for dedication, dependability and determination, and served as a team captain. Bevan also earned WVC Coaches’ Honorable Mention recognition.

Rather than defining her role only through scoring, Bevan takes pride in encouraging her teammates, supporting Tunkhannock’s younger players and helping the Lady Tigers continue developing together.

As she prepares for her second season as a captain, Bevan hopes to use the experience she has gained throughout high school to set an example for the program’s underclassmen. She believes Tunkhannock’s strong relationships away from the field have helped the team remain connected through challenging seasons.

Bevan described the Lady Tigers as a close-knit group that enjoys spending time together and competing alongside one another. She is excited to share one final season with her teammates while continuing to build the program.

A three-sport athlete in lacrosse, basketball and golf, Bevan has also competed with NEPA Impact, including an appearance at Summer Genesis, and previously participated in the USA Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament.

Bevan said Ithaca stood out because of its combination of academics and athletics. She plans to pursue an area related to communications and sports media, while continuing her playing career under head coach Karrie Moore and assistant coach Madison Mulligan.

Before beginning her senior season, Bevan is focused on pushing herself and her teammates throughout the offseason. She hopes to prepare for the college level while helping Tunkhannock take another step forward during her final year.

We talked with Madelyn about developing as a leader, Tunkhannock’s close team culture, her commitment to Ithaca, preparing for college lacrosse and what she hopes to accomplish during her senior season.

📈 OWEN MCPARTLAND MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACT IN CHAMPIONSHIP FRESHMAN SEASON‼️🥍

Scranton Prep rising sophomore midfielder and attackman Owen McPartland caught up with NEPA Lacrosse after earning spots on the 2026 NEPA Lacrosse Boys All-District and Rising Stars Teams.

McPartland made an immediate impact during his first varsity season, recording 45 goals and 31 assists for 76 points in 21 games. He tied for the team lead in assists while contributing within the Cavaliers’ balanced offense.

He was one of only two freshmen selected to the 22-player NEPA Lacrosse All-District Team and also earned a spot on the 10-player Rising Stars Team.

McPartland said the biggest adjustment to varsity lacrosse was competing against older, bigger and more experienced players. He became more comfortable after getting to know his teammates and settling into his role during the opening games of the season.

Playing alongside his older brothers and several familiar teammates also helped make that transition easier.

Within Prep’s balanced offense, McPartland learned to recognize when to attack the cage and when to create for someone else. He credited the Cavaliers’ coaches for developing specific game plans based on each opponent and identifying the best matchups to attack.

McPartland has continued developing this summer with Team TEN, including competition at the North American High School Invitational. He said the club environment and coaching have helped improve his lacrosse IQ and sharpen the smaller details of his game.

He plans to continue getting on the field and working in the weight room while balancing lacrosse with football. McPartland believes competing in another sport has helped him become tougher, more athletic and more decisive.

After gaining valuable experience during his freshman season, McPartland hopes to return as an improved player and help Scranton Prep compete for another District 2 championship next spring.

We talked with Owen about adjusting to varsity competition, creating within a balanced offense, developing with Team TEN, playing multiple sports and what would define a successful sophomore season.

🚨 ELLIE KERSEY COMMITS TO WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGE‼️

Wyoming Seminary rising senior Ellie Kersey announced last week that she has committed to continue her academic and lacrosse career at Division III William Smith College.

The Class of 2027 midfielder and center is coming off a standout junior season in which she led the Blue Knights with 83 goals, 30 assists and 112 draw-control wins.

Kersey earned First Team WVC Coaches’ All-Star honors for the third consecutive season and was selected to the 22-player NEPA Lacrosse Girls All-District Team.

She enters her senior year with 228 career goals, 87 assists, 315 points, 369 draw controls and 161 ground balls, while also competing in soccer and basketball and maintaining high honors academically.

A longtime NEPA Impact player, Kersey now heads to William Smith after building one of the most complete careers in the area.

The Class of 2027 standout competes for NEPA Impact and earned WVC Coaches’ Honorable Mention recognition this past season in a highly competitive field.

In her announcement, Bevan thanked her coaches for helping her grow as both a player and person, while also recognizing Ithaca head coach Karrie Moore and assistant coach Kelly Mulligan for giving her the opportunity to continue playing at the next level.

🏆 MCPARTLAND, RINALDI CLOSE PREP CAREERS AS CHAMPIONS‼️🥍

Scranton Prep seniors Will McPartland and Donato Rinaldi joined NEPA Lacrosse after helping lead the Cavaliers through a historic 20-1 season.

Prep captured the Wyoming Valley Conference championship, repeated as District 2 Class 2A champion, earned the program’s first home PIAA tournament victory and advanced to the state quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.

McPartland, our 2026 NEPA Lacrosse Boys Player of the Year, returned after missing his entire junior season with a torn ACL and finished with 57 goals and 20 assists for 77 points.

The Fairfield commit said watching Prep fall short while he was sidelined motivated him throughout his recovery. After continuing to lead and support his teammates from the sideline, he returned determined to help the Cavaliers reclaim the conference and district championships.

McPartland also earned WVC Coaches’ Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference and NEPA Lacrosse All-District honors. As he prepares to join Fairfield, his focus is simple: arrive ready to compete, trust his game and adjust to a new group of teammates and coaches.

Rinaldi, our Boys Co-Defensive Player of the Year, helped anchor a Prep defense that allowed only 6.0 goals per game.

He credited the unit’s success to the players’ close friendships away from the field and their willingness to hold one another accountable. Rinaldi took particular pride in watching younger and less-experienced defenders step into larger roles and help the Cavaliers maintain one of District 2’s strongest defensive groups.

A WVC Coaches’ First Team selection and member of the NEPA Lacrosse All-District Team, Rinaldi said the season reinforced the importance of never giving up. Prep survived several close and overtime games, repeatedly responding when faced with adversity.

Both seniors also reflected on continuing strong family traditions within the Scranton Prep program. Rinaldi shared the field with his younger brother after previously playing alongside an older brother and cousin, while McPartland competed alongside two of his brothers during his final season.

They hope the younger Cavaliers carry forward the senior class’s competitiveness, character, accountability and commitment to one another.

We talked with Will and Donato about completing their careers as champions, returning from adversity, Prep’s defensive identity, preparing for their next chapters and what it meant to share the program with family.

🚨 A great resource for vacation planning! 2027 season to start one week later, likely to better accommodate winter sports athletes.

2027 PIAA LACROSSE SEASON TO START 1 WEEK LATER 🥍📅

The PIAA’s current 2027 Handbook Schedule of Sports (as of Aug. 2, 2026) shows the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse regular season shifting back by one week.

Key changes include:
• First legal practice moves to March 8
• First scrimmage moves to March 13
• First contest moves to March 19
• Regular season shortened from 11 weeks to 10 weeks
• 18-game maximum remains unchanged
• PIAA state championship dates remain the same, with the finals still scheduled for Saturday, June 12 at Panzer Stadium.

The later start will likely benefit student-athletes coming directly from winter sports, especially those competing in district and PIAA state tournaments, while keeping the overall championship calendar in mid-June.
