It's Thursday so let's Throwback, and throwback big! We go back 40 years to 1985 and on the 4th of July weekend of that year the DACC hosted the Classic Chevy Club National Convention for the central region. It was held at what is now the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Center across from the Galleria in Dallas. We had the parking lots to ourselves and over 300 Tri Five Chevys came to town from all over the U.S. from as far away as Canada, California, Pennsylvania just to name a few. But the long distance winner was Bill Hollywood from Ketchikan, Alaska who drove his '55 Chevy all the way to Big D! We had tech seminars all weekend, tours to Downtown Dallas and to the set of the hottest TV show at the time 'Southfork Ranch' where our tour attendees got an unexpected tour inside and saw many of the stars of the TV show 'Dallas' in between takes. Drag racing was part of the weekend, movie night with American Graffiti and Two Lane Blacktop as the features, country western dance night, shopping bus tours for the ladies - the list was long! The big event - the Show N Shine judging took place on Saturday. Sponsorships were many with the major being the Chevrolet Division of General Motors who fully supported the weekend's efforts. Our club did a fantastic job with this event and we received many many compliments on our efforts!

Happy 78th Birthday to Candy Clark who appeared at one of our Lone Star Conventions our club hosted and at our club's 40th Anniversary Show we had in 2016! The spirit of American Graffiti will never die!!

Throwback Thursday! 2011 and DACC hosted the Lone Star Tri Five Convention and part of the fun was a 'Peel Out' contest judged by non other than Candy Clark who starred in the movie 'American Graffiti' where she had a line 'I just love it when guys peel out'. So in recognition of her attending the event we had her judge a peel out contest and Sonny Poteet did his best impression of a peel out shown here in his '55 Chevy. But Candy picked another as the winner as Sonny's attempt was a bit more than a peel out!!!
