📼 Are Your Old Video Tapes Stored the Right Way?
Many family memories are quietly sitting on shelves in boxes, closets, attics, and basements on old VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, Video8, and even Beta tapes. But did you know that how they are stored can make a big difference in how long they last?
Here are a few quick tips to help protect those priceless memories:
✅ Store tapes upright like books, not stacked flat
✅ Keep them in a cool, dry place (avoid hot attics and damp basements)
✅ Leave tapes in their protective cases when possible
✅ Keep away from magnets and large speakers
✅ Watch for mold or musty smells before playing old tapes
Most importantly: videotapes don’t last forever. Even tapes stored properly continue to age, and working VCRs and camcorders are becoming harder to find.
Those birthday parties, weddings, vacations, and voices from years gone by are simply too valuable to lose.
At Memory Lane Video Services, we help families preserve yesterday’s memories before time fades them away. ❤️
