1949 Dodge Wayfarer Two-Door Roadster

After years of wartime production, Detroit’s Big Three hadn’t offered a true roadster since the 1930s, making the 1949 Wayfarer Roadster a noteworthy return to open-air motoring. Dodge built just 5,420 Roadster examples during the first production year, compared to approximately 49,000 sedans and 9,000 coupes, positioning it as the sporting choice in the new Wayfarer lineup.

The Roadster’s exterior featured a removable soft top with detachable plastic side curtains for weather protection. Power came from a 230-cubic-inch L-head inline six-cylinder engine with a single Stromberg carburetor, producing 103 horsepower at 3,600 rpm.

Power was sent to the rear axle through a three-speed manual transmission with optional Fluid-Drive coupling, while independent front suspension and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes handled the driving dynamics.

Sharing bodywork design elements with other Chrysler Corporation models but riding on a shorter 115-inch wheelbase, the Wayfarer represented Dodge’s first all-new postwar platform. The model helped reestablish Dodge’s presence in the civilian market and remains notable today as the last true American roadster built by a major manufacturer.

1958 AC Aceca Bristol Coupé

A fastback roofline with an integrated hatchback made this GT version of the Ace roadster one of Britain's first sporting cars with practical rear access. The Aceca debuted in 1954, and by 1956 buyers could specify the more powerful Bristol engine option that transformed the car's character.

The Bristol straight-six displaced 1,971cc and traced its lineage to the prewar BMW 328 engine. Rudolf Schleicher's clever cylinder head design featured hemispherical combustion chambers with inclined valves operated by pushrods rather than overhead camshafts, using two rocker shafts positioned above each valve bank. This configuration produced about 125 horsepower and pushed the lightweight aluminum-bodied coupé to 116 mph, with 0-to-60 times of roughly 9.3 seconds.

The Aceca-Bristol weighed approximately 2,044 pounds (927 kg) and rode on a twin-tube ladder frame with all-independent suspension using transverse leaf springs. Front disc brakes became available in 1957 and were standard by 1958. A four-speed manual gearbox with optional overdrive delivered power through wire wheels.

Production totaled just 169 Aceca-Bristols between 1956 and 1963, making this elegant GT exceptionally rare today.

The Chevrolet 3100 Truck, produced between 1947 and 1955, is one of the most iconic classic pickups in American automotive history. Part of Chevrolet’s “Advance Design” series, the 3100 was a half-ton, light-duty truck that combined rugged durability with a stylish, streamlined body design, making it stand out from earlier boxier models. It was powered by reliable inline-six engines, such as the 216 and later the 235 cubic-inch “Stovebolt” six, paired with manual transmissions. The truck featured a distinctive five-bar horizontal grille, rounded fenders, and a wider cab that offered more comfort and better visibility for drivers. Its wooden bed floor, heavy-duty frame, and practical load capacity made it a favorite among farmers, tradesmen, and small business owners in postwar America. Today, the Chevrolet 3100 is highly sought after by collectors and hot rod builders, appreciated not only for its vintage styling but also for its role in shaping the golden era of classic American pickup trucks.
