Celebrating Tulsa, Oklahoma legend JJ Cale, born this day in 1938. From recording in a shag-carpeted bungalow on our grounds to shaping the Tulsa Sound inside The Church Studio, JJ changed music forever. Eric Clapton said that JJ. "got me through my darkest days" (during the 1970s) and that his music was a "beacon." Neil Young said, “JJ is the one who played all the s**t first. And he doesn’t play very loud, either... I really like that about him. He’s so sensitive.”
