When “Don’t Fear the Reaper” Came On…
One of our amazing volunteers, Randy, stole the show when he channeled his inner Will Ferrell from the legendary SNL “More Cowbell” sketch. As soon as the song started, the whole room lit up. A true “we gotta have more cowbell” moment at The Church Studio!

The Fairchild 660 Audio Compressor, often called the “holy grail” of outboard gear. This legendary single channel, tube based compressor and limiter was designed by Rein Narma and Les Paul in the 1950s. It became a favorite at Abbey Road Studios and remains one of the most sought after pieces of gear in recording history.

Our Story

The church was built in 1915 and started as Grace M.E. Church. It was converted to a world-class recording studio in 1972 by Grammy-Award winning musician, singer, songwriter, and producer Leon Russell. Once the historic renovation is complete, the beautiful structure will once again become a recording studio, community space and home to the Church Studio Archive. Today, The Church Studio is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Landmark.

The Church Studio Music Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, supports the understanding, appreciation, and advancement of music.
