“For me, the studio is where the music really becomes alive.” - Stevie Wonder Stevie spent time at the Church in the 1970's. The studio's Clavinet makes us think of him and of course, when we hear the funky sounds of "Superstition!"

Our Story

The church was built in 1915 and started as Grace M.E. Church. It was converted to a world-class recording studio in 1972 by Grammy-Award winning musician, singer, songwriter, and producer Leon Russell. Once the historic renovation is complete, the beautiful structure will once again become a recording studio, community space and home to the Church Studio Archive. Today, The Church Studio is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Landmark.

The Church Studio Music Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, supports the understanding, appreciation, and advancement of music.
