Ruff Rhyme Records is an independent record label & distributor operating in the Washington DC Metropolitian area, most commonly referred to as the DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia) area. Officially founded in 1992 by entreprenuer and super producer, Bernard E. aka Big Poppa Nard who wanted to put out a record he made with his high school friends. The label was inspired by west coast rap pioneers Eazy

-E, Ice-T and Too $hort's independent label ventures; Ruthless Records, Rhyme Syndicate Records and Dangerous Music, respectively.
