The church has always been encouraged to share the message of Jesus Christ far and wide. This has led missionaries to go to some of the most remote places on earth. What does that practically look like? In this podcast, we ask Steve Biggerstaff of JAARS (Jungle Aviation and Radio Services) about presenting the message of Jesus Christ in some of the most remote places of earth.

Mission work has always been associated with the church. Some mission work takes place in remote corners of the world where telecommunication, airplanes, and even roads do not exist. What does it take to get the message of Jesus Christ to these re...

As we come to Good Friday, I am reading several sections on Jesus' walk towards the cross. They are from John 19:16-17 and Luke 23:27-28.

As we continue through Holy Week, we continue reading sections from the Gospels that concern Christ's Passion. This reading is from Mark 15:1-5 as Jesus is led away to Pontius Pilate. This governor of Judea will be responsible for Jesus' death.

In this Holy Week time, we continue devotional reflections from Caspar Schwenckfeld's Passion. These are his thoughts and prayers from Matthew 25:41, 50.

The forefather of the Schwenkfelder denomination, Caspar Schwenckfeld, was very moved by the Passion of Jesus Christ. Like other Reformers, he composed a Passional book, sections of the Gospels (primarily) for Christians to meditate upon. What is unique for this passional book are the prayers that are connected to each scene of Jesus' Passion. In this brief devotion, we read some Luke 22:44-51. We trust that it will be an aid for further devotion to Jesus at this significant time of year.

From March 29 through April 5, Christians will be celebrating Holy Week in the western hemisphere. A service in which some Christians participate is a Tenebrae Service. It is a service of shadows that dates from the 8th century. In this podcast, we ask Rev. Dr. David McKinley, Senior Minister of Central Schwenkfelder Church, about the significance of this service for the Easter week experience. This service will be held at Central Schwenkfelder Church on Thursday, April 2 at 7:30 pm. All are welcome.

The week leading up to Easter is one of the most important weeks in the church calendar each year. A special service during this week is a Tenebrae Service, a service of shadows that commemorates Jesus' passion. Central Schwenkfelder has conducted...
