Government To Relocate 10 miles roadside market to allow for Road expansion works
November 18th,2022
Chibombo - The Road Development Agency,RDA is set to spend about K1.2 million on the expansion of a 200 metre stretch of the Great North Road around 10 miles area to reduce on congestion.
And the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development says it will engage traders at the famous 10 miles road side market to relocate to another site to allow for the expansion of the stretch.
RDA Lusaka Province Senior Engineer Felix Mubanga says the expansion which will be 100 metres of either side of the market and 50 metres on either side of the road is meant to improve the flow of traffic which in most cases leads to fatal accidents.
Mr. Mubanga told journalists after a spotcheck of the area that congestion along the stretch had become unbearable leading to the slow turning of the wheels of commerce and trade as vehicles especially heavy cargo trucks find it difficult to negotiate around the area.
He says the expansion will be part of the pre-works in view of the forthcoming construction of the Ndola - Lusaka dual carriageway under a PPP arrangement to be signed soon.
And Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Nicholas Phiri says the stretch of the road has seen heavy encroachment as he heaped blame on the Chibombo local authority for approving and allowing the vice to grow.
Mr Phiri said this is the reason Government was engaging the traders some who have genuine trading licences from the council to relocate to another place to be provided by the local authority to allow for the commencement of works.

GILBERT LISWANISO WRITES........
This morning, we were delighted to once again interact with the good people of Kabushi Constituency in Ndola, Copperbelt Province through our door to door campaigns.
Of particular interest, are our parents and senior citizens we met who told us that they are determined to ensure that our candidate goes to 'Manda Hill on the 15th of September 2022 which is the day of voting in the Kabushi Parliamentary By-election.'
It was clear that our esteemed parents understand that the future of Zambia's young population, and the youth of Kabushi in particular, lies in credible and visionary leadership which President Hakainde Hichilema and his New Dawn Administration will provide to the people of Kabushi through our candidate Bernard Kanengo.
Kanengo oyeeee!!!!
