*14 DIE IN ROAD ACCIDENT*
Fourteen passengers from Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, have died in a road traffic accident in Pemba District, Southern Province.
Sinazongwe District Commissioner Nchimunya Siakole says a dark cloud has since engulfed the coal mining capital, Sinazongwe.
Mr. Siakole says the accident occurred early this morning when the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Bus collided with a truck.
He said this when he addressed a Multi- Stakeholder Dialogue organised by Centre for Environment Justice (CEJ) in Sinazongwe District today before rushing to the accident scene.

Tuesday, 26 October, 2021. Government has called on the Engineering institution of Zambia to step up its efforts and provide the needed advice in the implementation of projects.
Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha made the call when the Engineering institution of Zambia paid a courtesy at his office this Morning.
Mr. Mposha said the institution has an important role of promoting advancement of science, engineering, technological and related disciplines to contribute to the improvement of quality of life for the people of Zambia.
The Minister said the engineering institution of Zambia is also required to provide an oversight role in developing; promoting and enforcing internationally comparable engineering standards in in line with the engineering institution of Zambia act no 17 of 2010.
He said the Organization’s role is key particularly in the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation to ensuring that the ministry’s mandate of harnessing water for social and productive use through construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure, and in turn contribute to national water security by 2030 becomes a reality.
Meanwhile, Engineering Institution of Zambia president Abel Ng’andu said his institution stands ready to working with the Upnd Government in realizing development in the Country.
Mr N’gandu has however, called on Government Ministry’s and departments to comply with the law by registering and employing qualified engineers who are affiliated with the institute.
He said affiliated engineers abide by the code of conduct as they are easily regulated and are compliant with the law which prevents misconduct among engineers.

Fake fertiliser scum exposed in Chipangali.
An operation conducted by Zambia Police, Ministry of Agriculture and office of Chipangali Town Council has unearthed a scum were three suspected Malawians have been found in possession of 81 bags of fake fertiliser in Chipangali district.
The operation was conducted on 10th September during the visitation of FRA depots and a tip off was given to the entourage that some people were selling feterliser suspected to be fake..
Three suspects believed to be Malawians were arrested and detained at Mugubudu Police Post, while the samples of the product was sent for further testing at Mt. Makulu Research Station in Lusaka were the results obtained confirmed are that the consignment is fake and mainly consisting of soil..
And Chipangali Town Council Chairperson Maxson Nkhoma has expressed sadness with such a development were unscrupulous people want to take advantage of farmers and swindle them by selling fake fertiliser at a cheaper price.
Mr. Nkhoma has also warned tricksters in the habit of selling fake farming inputs to farmers in Chipangali to stop, adding that those found wanting will face the wrath of the law..
The Chairperson has further urged farmers in Chipangali district to be watchful and never buy compromised farming inputs being sold by unscrupulous people just because of the cheap price.
Mr. Nkhoma has commended the Zambia Police in Chipangali and the office of the District Agriculture Officer (DACO) for acting swiftly and ensuring that the culprits are brought to book..
He has further appealed to the national prosecuting authority to treat the matter with urgency in order to deter the would be offenders, adding that with the rains around the corner many would engage in this dirty business..

Zambia has called on Southern Africa region to invest in the
management of transboundary waters in the region as doing so will
stimulate growth in the water sector.
Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha says there is
need for the Southern African region to stimulate investment in the
sector because it is key for inclusive and collaborative transboundary
water financing and industrial development.
Mr Mposha said this today when he officiated at 9th Southern African
Development Community (SADC) River Basin organisations and shared
watercourses institutions workshop held virtually.
He reaffirmed that Zambia will continue investing in the protection of
water resources as doing so will spur economic growth.
Mr Mposha says Government recognizes the opportunities that lay in
championing river based organizations and shared water institutions in
ensuring equitable and reasonable utilization of shared water and
related resources.
He says this is in line with the principles of integrated water
resources management approach and integrated investments initiatives.
