Meet Emmett Bassindale, a 10-year-old from Fisherville who is already seven years into Fastball and shows no signs of slowing down. Last season his team won the U9 HEFL 'A Division' title, his hockey squad went undefeated to an NDHL championship, and he earned a spot on the U11 AAA team for next year. Two sports, two big dreams. Five hometown ballgames and three trips to the lacrosse floor last night, and the headliner was a comeback you had to see to believe.

One Jarvis fastball squad spotted the other side a 5-0 lead. Then they flipped the whole thing. There was an inside-the-park home run involved. We will let you find out how it ended.

Add in a combined no-hitter from the Haldimand Heat 11U, another Simcoe Giants 10U rally, and a busy night on the box lacrosse floor, and it was a full Wednesday across Norfolk and Haldimand.

Meet Austin Korten, a 16-year-old middle from Otterville lighting it up on the volleyball court for Delhi District Secondary School. Austin fell in love with the game in Grade 8, and he has not slowed down since. He led his team to an AABHN finals win over a powerhouse Holy Trinity squad, sealing the championship with a back row hit. Next up: collegiate volleyball, a provincial title with the Simcoe Extreme club, and a future as a licensed electrician who gives back to his community. Save the date, Norfolk County. The Sports Hall of Recognition Induction Gala goes Saturday, July 4 at Hungarian Hall in Delhi. Six new members go into the Hall this year: Jim Turkiewicz, Sean Jamieson, David Howard, Pat Murphy, John Axford, and Walter Krawec.
