𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝙍𝙪𝙣 2026 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝘿𝙤𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙠𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙃𝙄𝙑 & 𝙎𝙏𝙄 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨

𝘿𝙤𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙠𝙝, 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 29, 2026: A 5-km Red Run Mini Marathon 2026 was organised at Government College Doimukh on Saturday to promote awareness about HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among the youth.

The event was organised by the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of Government College Doimukh in association with the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), under the aegis of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Held under the theme “Youth for HIV and STI,” the programme aimed to actively engage college students and Red Ribbon Club members in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS, STIs, adolescent health and mental health through sports and competitive activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Eva Dupak, Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club, stressed the importance of education, testing and youth empowerment in preventing HIV and STIs. She highlighted key aspects including transmission, symptoms, treatment and preventive measures.

Dr Dupak also emphasised the important role of young people in sharing accurate information, dispelling misconceptions and encouraging a more informed and compassionate approach towards people living with HIV/AIDS. She further highlighted the continuing social stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

The programme also drew attention to the HIV situation in Arunachal Pradesh, with Papum Pare district reported to have the highest number of positive cases.

In the competition, Tadar Kaya, BA I Semester student from the Department of History, emerged winner in the male category, while Sita Gama, BA V Semester student from the Department of Geography, secured the first position in the female category. Both winners will represent the college at the State-level competition.

Certificates and cash prizes were presented to the winners of both categories.

Earlier, the marathon was flagged off by Dr Dakli Lombi, NSS Programme Officer. Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the event, turning the mini marathon into a strong awareness campaign for HIV and STI prevention among the youth.

𝙄𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙧, 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 29, 2026: Kapring Dara, son of Ayang Dara and Meena Dara of Sawa Circle in East Kameng district, has brought pride to his family and the local community by successfully qualifying for the MBBS programme at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS).

Kapring secured an impressive 453 marks, earning admission to the prestigious medical institution.

His achievement is being hailed as a proud moment for his family and the people of Sawa Circle. His success reflects his hard work, dedication and determination to pursue a career in the medical profession.

Kapring’s accomplishment is also expected to inspire young students across East Kameng to pursue their academic goals with commitment and perseverance.

𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙝𝙞, 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 29, 2026: Arunachal Pradesh’s Kenyir Dui, District Resource Person (DRP) from Papum Pare (Capital Complex), was felicitated with an Appreciation Award and Certificate at the PMFME Conclave 2026 held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, the two-day conclave was held on August 24 and 25, 2026, bringing together stakeholders from across the country to showcase achievements, success stories and best practices under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.

Kenyir Dui was recognised for her contribution and successful performance in facilitating the implementation of the PMFME Scheme. The Ministry had earlier selected her for national-level felicitation among top-performing District Resource Persons and District Nodal Officers.

The conclave featured award ceremonies, panel discussions, success stories, best-practice presentations and the PMFME Bazaar, showcasing products and enterprises supported under the scheme.

Her recognition at the national platform marks a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, highlighting the growing participation of grassroots functionaries and entrepreneurs from the State in promoting micro food-processing enterprises, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The achievement also reflects the State’s continued efforts to strengthen local food-processing enterprises and support grassroots economic development under the Government of India’s PMFME initiative.

𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙖𝙠𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞, 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 29, 2026: Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari and Vivekananda Rock Memorial bid a solemn farewell to its All India President, Mananiya A. Balakrishnanji, whose last rites were performed at Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari, on Saturday.

Balakrishnanji passed away on August 27, 2026, at 12:05 AM in Nagercoil, at the age of 88, following age-related ailments.

Born on May 3, 1938, in Thrissur, Kerala, Balakrishnanji initially served in the Indian Air Force before coming under the influence of Mananiya Eknathji Ranade, the founder of Vivekananda Kendra. Inspired by the call for nation-building, he left his career and joined the organisation as a Jeevanvrati (Life Worker) in its first batch in 1973, dedicating more than five decades to the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

𝙋𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙑𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖 𝙆𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙖’𝙨 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡

Balakrishnanji made a significant contribution to the development of education and social service in Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast. Posted to the region as a Zonal Organiser, he played a pioneering role in establishing the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) movement in Arunachal Pradesh.

Between 1973 and 1981, while serving as VKV Secretary, he travelled extensively through the remote and difficult terrain of the frontier state. His dedication was reflected in his undertaking of a 21-day foot march from Roing to Anini to reach remote communities.

The first VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh were established in 1977, followed by the introduction of the residential school model in 1979. Today, Vivekananda Kendra operates 33 schools with more than 13,000 students across the state.

In recognition of his contribution to education and social service, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh honoured him with a State Award in 2014.

Five Decades of Service

Balakrishnanji served Vivekananda Kendra in several key positions:

- General Secretary: 1981–2001
- Vice-President: 2001–2020
- All India President: July 2020–2026

Known for his simple lifestyle and approachable nature, he was regarded as a fatherly figure by generations of teachers, students and Karyakartas. Despite holding the organisation’s highest position, he lived in a simple one-room accommodation at Vivekanandapuram and remained accessible to all.

Members of the VKV Alumni Association of Arunachal Pradesh also travelled to Kanyakumari to attend the final rites of their beloved and fatherly figure, Mananiya A. Balakrishnanji. The alumni members paid their last respects and joined the Vivekananda Kendra family in bidding a final farewell to the departed soul.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Balakrishnanji, recalling his more than five decades of service to the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and society, particularly his deep association with the Northeast and contribution to educational, social and nation-building activities.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also expressed his condolences, describing Balakrishnanji as a “true Karmayogi” and remembering his selfless contribution, especially to education in Arunachal Pradesh.

His passing marks the loss of a dedicated Karmayogi, guide and senior member of the Vivekananda Kendra family. His legacy, particularly in the fields of education, social service and nation-building in Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast, is expected to continue through the institutions and generations he inspired.

𝙄𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙧, 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 29: The United Arunachal Indigenous People’s Forum (UAIPF) has submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, raising a series of serious concerns relating to border security, alleged irregularities in government contracts, implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, and the long-pending inter-state boundary issue with Assam.

In its memorandum, the forum expressed concern over reports of alleged Chinese intrusion in the Limeking and Taksing areas of Upper Subansiri district. Citing statements and visits by various organisations and public representatives, UAIPF alleged that conflicting statements from the Chief Minister and Home Minister regarding the reported intrusion have created confusion and weakened public confidence. The forum urged the Governor to examine the matter in the interest of national security.

The forum also demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister, alleging his involvement in the controversy surrounding government contracts reportedly worth around ₹1,200 crore awarded to his close relatives. It alleged that assurances regarding cooperation with investigating agencies had not been fulfilled.

Another major issue raised was the alleged misappropriation, mismanagement and irregularities in funds sanctioned under the Integrated Development of New Adventure Tourism scheme. The memorandum sought an independent and impartial inquiry/audit into the sanction, release and utilisation of the funds, including verification of work records, bills, vouchers, tenders, beneficiaries and physical assets.

On the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978, UAIPF expressed concern over the continuing controversy surrounding its operationalisation and urged the government to arrive at a concrete and amicable solution.

The forum further highlighted the inter-state boundary dispute between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, stating that despite the Namsai Declaration of July 15, 2022, disputes reportedly continue in several areas. It urged appropriate intervention to protect the interests of people living along the boundary.

Based on these concerns, UAIPF requested the Governor to take remedial and necessary action against the Chief Minister and Home Minister, besides seeking appropriate action against the firms M/s Brand Eagle and M/s Hill Engineering, as mentioned in the memorandum.
