Eco Park Project Launched at Noap Gaon, MLA Pamin Lepcha Reaffirms Focus on Green Development
Pakyong, 11 Feb : A new chapter in sustainable development began in the 21–Gnathang Machong Constituency as the Bhumi Puja ceremony for the proposed Nagar Vatika Park (Eco Park) was held at Noap Gaon (Dhupi Dara) on Tuesday morning.
The ceremony was attended by area MLA Smt. Pamin Lepcha, who described the project as a significant step toward environmentally responsible and community-oriented growth. The upcoming eco park is expected to promote health, fitness, and eco-friendly recreation in the Pakyong region, creating a green space for residents while encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.
The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), with support from Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Minister Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha. Senior officials, including Secretary-cum-PCCF Dr. Pradeep Kumar (IFS) and the Forest Department team, are overseeing the project’s ex*****on.
Local representatives and officials present at the event included Pakyong Yakten GPU Panchayat President Ms. Sarita Bhusal, Panchayat Members Rakesh Basnett, Sarita Chettri, Yakila Kazi, and Ramesh Gurung, DFO (T) Forest Pakyong Sonam Pintso Bhutia, RO Y.N. Pradhan, along with other departmental officers, SKM party representatives, and members of the public.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lepcha emphasized that such initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to balancing development with environmental conservation. She noted that the park would serve as a space for recreation while safeguarding the region’s natural heritage for future generations.
Later in the day, the MLA visited the District Administrative Centre (DAC) in Pakyong to hold a review meeting on various administrative matters. The meeting was conducted in the presence of Pakyong Deputy Commissioner Agawane Rohan Ramesh (IAS) and other district officials.
The launch of the eco park project underscores ongoing efforts to promote sustainable infrastructure and community well-being in the 21–Gnathang Machong Constituency.
