OKOA WOODLEY TOURNAMENT
It's Going Down this Saturday, 20th August 2022 from 8 AM at Woodley Stadium. The Taking back of Woodley Stadium., Whose "Construction" has stalled for close to two years now after it barely began in mid 2020 When it was closed and teams forced to seek alternative grounds some of which they have had to pay for thousands of Shillings every Matchday for two seasons. Quite an expensive endeavour.
Since there is no ongoing Construction, Stakeholders have deemed it necessary to retake it for the meantime as the alternative is causing teams to suffer a lot of Unwarranted Expenses. This is in anticipation of the forthcoming season where several league and non league teams from Kibra will be expected to host their home Matches at the One venue that really feels like Home.
In a show of Solidarity with One another,The event has attracted a myriad of teams including Under category teams that will play against each other on Saturday to Signify that the famous grounds is active once again and available for use by Kibra teams both in league and non league categories.
However, While bearing in mind that The County Government of Nairobi had authorized and set aside Kes 400 Million for the Construction of Woodley Stadium, The leadership of the Stakeholders will concurrently continue pushing for the Refurbishment of Woodley Stadium in close liaison and consultation with the Incoming County Government leadership and with the support of the Constituency's Newly elected political leaders and All Individuals or groups that have shown intent and goodwill to the needs of the Kibra Football Community, so as to ensure that the Money allocated is put into it's intended use and within the foreseeable future have Woodley Stadium completely refurbished to a better desired state that the people of Kibra and Nairobi as a whole will exploit it's full infrastructural potential that will help improve the economic situation of those who depend on their God Given Talent to eek a living through profitable sporting activities. It's not only footballers who will benefit from a completely refurbished Woodley Stadium, Small Scale traders from nearby Toi Market will Reap big every match day when the stadium is full and spectators need some refreshments and bitings. Jobs will be created from Stewards to Photographers to Reporters to Cleaners to maintenance crew to those people pirate team merchandise just to mention but a few. A Micro economy will be created that revolves around Matchdays just from having a beautiful Stadium. And that is just Football. We have other sports disciplines.
The Event will be Officially Kicked Off by Re-Erecting the Goalposts at exactly 0730Hrs.
