NETIZEN UPDATE: ‘SANDSTORM’ PANIC SA PASAY! ITO PALA ANG NAGPAKALAT NG NAPAKALAKING DUST CLOUD NA NAGMUKHANG DESERT STORM

HINDI SANDSTORM! Ito talaga ang nangyari sa Pasay na nagmukhang desert storm

Akala ng marami, biglang nagkaroon ng sandstorm sa Pasay City kamakaylan, August 26.

Sa mga kumalat na videos, halos matakpan ng makapal na alikabok ang Diokno Boulevard malapit sa Senate building, GSIS at SM Mall of Asia.

Pero ayon sa PAGASA, hindi ito isang tunay na sandstorm.

Ang nangyari ay isang gust front, isang biglaang bugso ng hangin na karaniwang nauugnay sa thunderstorms.

Ganito ito nangyari:

May thunderstorm activity sa paligid ng Metro Manila. Kapag bumababa ang malamig at mabigat na hangin mula sa thunderstorm, pagdating nito sa ground ay kumakalat ito palabas nang mabilis. Ito ang tinatawag na downdraft outflow o gust front.

At dahil maraming maluwag na alikabok at surface material sa mga reclaimed areas malapit sa Manila Bay, nahakot ng malakas na bugso ng hangin ang mga ito. Resulta: isang malaking ulap ng alikabok na parang eksena sa isang tunay na sandstorm.

Kaya sobrang dramatic tingnan sa video, pero localized at panandalian lamang ang phenomenon. Nang humina ang hangin, mabilis ding luminaw ang visibility.

Mas mahalaga, hindi ito isolated na weather story. Patuloy pa ring nakakaapekto sa Luzon ang southwest monsoon o habagat, at ayon sa PAGASA forecast, may posibilidad pa rin ng scattered rains at thunderstorms sa Metro Manila at iba pang bahagi ng Luzon sa mga susunod na araw.

Ibig sabihin, posible pa ring makaranas ng biglaang malalakas na bugso ng hangin bago o habang dumarating ang thunderstorm.

Kaya kung biglang dumilim, lumakas ang hangin at bumaba ang visibility:

Huwag agad isipin na sandstorm.

Posibleng thunderstorm + gust front + loose dust lang ang nangyayari.

Para sa mga motorista, mag-ingat dahil maaaring biglang bumaba ang visibility. At kung nasa lugar na maalikabok, makatutulong ang face mask o pagpunta muna sa loob ng isang gusali.

Iyan ang tanong ng mga vloggers at reporters kay Sen. Jinggoy Estrada matapos ma-injure ang kanyang kaliwang tuhod sa loob ng New Quezon City Jail.

Ayon sa pagsusuri ng Cardinal Santos Medical Center ngayong Agosto 26, nagkaroon si Estrada ng complete meniscus tear o pagkapunit ng meniscus sa kaliwang tuhod. Bukod pa ito sa osteoarthritis na dati na niyang iniinda sa kanang tuhod.

Ayon kay orthopedic surgeon Dr. Fernando Syquia, kailangan operahan ang parehong kondisyon. Sa ngayon, binigyan muna si Estrada ng painkiller at knee support.

Ilang oras lamang matapos ang medical procedure, discharged na siya at balik-piitan na.

Bandang 4:25 PM ngayong Miyerkules, ibinalik si Estrada sa BJMP sakay ng PNP bus, alinsunod sa kautusan ng Sandiganbayan Third Division.

Mula ospital, diretso ulit sa selda.

At kung tama ang iniulat na pain level niya na “9.5 over 10,” mukhang hindi biro ang sakit na kanyang nararanasan.

NETIZEN UPDATE: PROSECUTION NAGSUMBONG KAY CHIZ— PYONA, POSIBLENG NAUNANG TUMAMA SA BAGONG SUB JUDICE RULING DAHIL SA MGA PATUTSADA NA NAMAN NITO? IMPEACHMENT COURT, MAY WARNING NA SA RESPONDENT!

KAKABABA PA LANG NG BAGONG RULING NI CHIZ ESCUDERO SA SUB JUDICE RULE, MAY BAGONG PATUTSADA NA NAMAN SI VP SARA DUTERTE!

Habang binabasa ni Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero ang kanyang ruling tungkol sa mga bawal na public statements habang nagpapatuloy ang impeachment trial, may inilabas umanong statement si Vice President Sara Duterte na tumatalakay sa mga nangyayari sa paglilitis.

Kaya agad nagsumbong si lead prosecution counsel Jinky Luistro.

“We would like to respectfully manifest to the Honorable Impeachment Court that almost simultaneously to the reading of the ruling of the Honorable Impeachment Court on the issue of sub judice rule, the respondent Vice President made a public statement...”

Pero bago pa niya maituloy ang sasabihin niya, pinutol na siya ni Chiz.

“I know where you're leading at, counsel. Naunahan mo lang ako. I thought you were going to take up another matter, so let me cut you short.”

Meaning: alam na ni Chiz kung saan papunta ang prosecution.

CHIZ TO VP SARA: OBSERVE THE RULING MOVING FORWARD

Ipinaliwanag ni Escudero na aware siya sa statement na inilabas ni VP Sara habang binabasa niya ang ruling.

“While the presiding officer was delivering its ruling on the applicability, limitation and who is covered by Rule 18, a statement was issued by the impeached official, the respondent, the Vice President, which clearly is covered by the ruling earlier given by the presiding officer,” Chiz said.

Pero dahil prospective ang bagong ruling, hindi muna ito basta-basta gagawing violation na may penalty.

Gayunman, malinaw ang warning ni Chiz.

Ipinaalala niya sa lead defense counsel na si Atty. Sheila Sison na pagsabihan ang kanyang kliyente na sundin ang bagong ruling at ang Rule 18.

“The Presiding Officer would like to remind, through the lead counsel for the respondent, her client to kindly observe the ruling of the presiding officer as well as the rules of the impeachment court, specifically Rule 18... in regard to making comments on the merits of the case,” ani Escudero.

At hindi doon nagtapos ang warning.

“Henceforth, again given the prospectivity of the ruling, the necessary actions will be taken against her not only by the court but also, given that she is a lawyer, what the Presiding Officer earlier mentioned in relation to SIPRA and in relation to the Office of the Bar Confidant. Kindly inform her, Attorney Sheila.”

Sagot naman ni Sison: “We take note of that reminder, Your Honor.”

ANO BA ANG SINABI NI VP SARA?

Sa kanyang statement ngayong Wednesday, binanatan ni VP Sara ang prosecution panel at iba pa niyang critics, na aniya ay mas abala sa “theatrics” at insults kaysa sa pagpapakita ng ebidensya sa impeachment trial.

“They should not be fishing for evidence during the trial or desperately try to turn something they wish to be true into a wild story of alleged wrongdoing,” sabi ni Duterte.

Tinukoy din niya ang mga naging pahayag laban sa kanya at sa witnesses.

“A senator calling a witness ‘stupid,’ a lawyer calling me the ‘mastermind of a scam’ or another witness referring to me as a ‘brat,’ does not prove a case, nor does it produce evidence,” dagdag niya.

Ang “stupid” remark ay tumutukoy sa naging pahayag ni Sen. Raffy Tulfo kay former OVP special disbursing officer Gina Acosta habang tinatanong ito tungkol sa handling ng confidential funds.

Samantala, tinawag naman ng prosecution lawyer na si Mae Divinagracia si Duterte na “architect and mastermind” ng umano’y misuse ng confidential funds.

“Insults reveal the need to feign confidence in the face of a weak presentation,” sabi pa ni Duterte.

AT DITO NAGKAROON NG BIG TWIST

Ang problema ngayon: kakababa lang mismo ng impeachment court ng ruling na nagse-set ng mas malinaw na boundaries sa public statements tungkol sa merits ng trial.

At halos kasabay nito, may inilabas na statement ang mismong impeached official tungkol sa mga argumento at pahayag na lumalabas sa trial.

Lead prosecution counsel Jinky Luistro was in the middle of making a manifestation when bigla siyang pinutol ni Escudero—dahil, apparently, alam na ng presiding officer kung saan patungo ang “sumbong” niya.

Mukhang may malaking twist na namang paparating sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte: isa sa sarili niyang abogado, si Atty. Michael Wesley T. Poa, ang gusto ngayong ipatawag ng prosecution bilang hostile witness.

Yes, si Poa na bahagi mismo ng defense team ni VP Sara ang posibleng maupo sa witness stand at sagutin ang mga tanong ng kampong nagpo-prosecute sa kanyang kliyente.

Lead prosecution counsel Jinky Luistro made the move after informing the impeachment court that the prosecution was dropping one of its scheduled witnesses.

“Your Honor, we respectfully inform the Honorable Impeachment Court that we are now dropping the presentation of Colonel Bahao,” Luistro said.

Pero despite dropping Bahao, sinabi niyang tuloy pa rin ang plano nilang i-present sina Colonel Boransing at Colonel Panopio, na na-orderan na ng subpoena para sa September 1.

“Nevertheless, we maintain the position to present both Colonel Boransing and Colonel Panopio, to whom the subpoenas have been ordered to be issued for September 1, 2026, Your Honor,” she said.

Para raw ma-maximize ang schedule na ibinigay sa prosecution para sa hearing next Wednesday, September 2, formally requested ni Luistro na ma-issuehan ng subpoena ad testificandum si Atty. Michael Wesley T. Poa.

“In order to maximize the schedule that is given to us by the Honorable Impeachment Court for September 2, that is next Wednesday, Your Honor, we would like to respectfully move for the issuance of subpoena ad testificandum to Attorney Michael Wesley T. Poa, if the same should be necessary,” Luistro told the court.

Kasama rin sa gusto nilang ipatawag si Marisa B. Grande ng Philippine Statistics Authority.

“If given an opportunity next week, these two shall likewise be presented on September 2, Wednesday,” Luistro added.

CHIZ: BAKA HINDI NA KAILANGAN NG SUBPOENA

Pero ayon kay Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero, baka hindi na nga kailangang i-subpoena si Poa.

Why? Dahil nasa impeachment court na raw si Poa at “more than willing to testify.”

“Subject to the caveat that should the other witnesses not appear, given that Attorney Poa is here and more than willing to testify, as intimated earlier, then we jump to Attorney Poa should the other earlier two witnesses fail to appear on September 1, without need of issuing a subpoena to Attorney Poa,” Escudero said.

Then he made it even clearer: “He is so informed in open court.”

So basically, naka-alert na si Atty. Poa. If the other witnesses scheduled for September 1 fail to appear, puwedeng diretso na ang prosecution sa kanya.

At doon lalong nagiging interesting ang development.

Imagine that: Ang abogado mismo ni VP Sara, posibleng tumestigo bilang hostile witness ng prosecution laban sa kampo ng kanyang sariling kliyente.

ANO KAYA ANG ITATANONG KAY POA?

Hindi pa ibinunyag ng prosecution ang eksaktong scope ng testimony na gusto nilang makuha mula kay Poa. Pero dahil sa kanyang previous role sa Office of the Vice President at sa Department of Education, posibleng may kinalaman ito sa mga dokumento, transactions at issues surrounding the confidential funds, na isa sa mga sentrong usapin sa impeachment case.

At kung iyon nga ang direksyon ng testimony, malaking development ito dahil Poa has firsthand knowledge of the operations of the offices previously headed by VP Sara.
