Joint operatives discovered 109 additional packages of suspected “kush” worth an estimated P204.44 million during a re-inspection of a sailing yacht at the Subic Bay Yacht Club in Zambales on September 4.

The packages were found inside the yacht’s forward hatch and brought to the Bureau of Customs Port of Subic for inventory and proper disposition. The discovery follows the seizure of around 89 kilograms of suspected high-grade ma*****na worth P106.8 million from the same yacht on September 2.

The death toll rose to three after two explosions struck a military base storing explosives in Viacha, Bolivia, on Friday. Another 84 people were injured, while 14 soldiers were earlier reported missing.

Rescue teams continued clearing debris on Saturday, but authorities warned that unexploded TNT and other explosives remained at the site, keeping the area at high risk. The cause of the blasts was still under investigation. | via AFP

PAGASA issued a Yellow Heavy Rainfall Warning at 2 p.m. Sunday due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, covering parts of Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Cavite, and Zambales, with possible flooding in flood-prone areas.

Light to moderate rains, with occasional heavy rainfall, were also reported over parts of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal, Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan. The public was advised to monitor weather conditions and await the next warning at 5 p.m.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 18 people after motorbanca Geri Ann was found half-submerged about 4.60 nautical miles southeast of Barangay Magsidel, Calayan, Cagayan, on September 5.



The rescued group consisted of seven crew members and 11 passengers. All were brought to the Calayan Rural Health Unit for medical assessment and were found in good physical condition.

The Department of Budget and Management plans to automatically release funds for salary deficiencies once agencies update their plantilla records, removing the need for separate funding requests.

DBM Acting Secretary Kim Robert C. De Leon said the system will be tested across government agencies in the fourth quarter of 2026, aimed at helping teachers and other government workers receive salary adjustments faster.
