In our November edition of The Bridge called “A Quiet Hollow,” we provided a list of books that range from memoir, fiction, self-care guides, and more. We’ve provided the list with brief descriptions of each book.

If you do decide to purchase a book — consider shopping at your local bookstore (in Beaver County we have two: Moden Mercantile and eQuip Books; although The Little Green Bookstore and Penguin Bookshop are just across the Beaver County border 🙂!) Or, you can buy books online at Bookshop.org and choose which local bookstore gets a percentage of the cover price.

Also, Daniel Williams and John Bryant are two Beaver County authors! 😎

Daniel Williams is an author and English professor who recently wrote a book about his childhood. Titled “Misbehaving in Maine: 30 Half-Learned Lessons,” the book is part memoir, part creative nonfiction, and uses humor to dive deeper into some of Williams’ childhood — the light and dark moments.

In our October edition of The Bridge, several folks submitted how they think about the questions: where do you see hope right now; how do we dignify one another even when we disagree; and what makes a community whole?

Here’s Kate’s response. 🍅

With the federal government still being shutdown, I'm aware that many of our residents are worried about November and feeding your families.

I'm reaching out to the community to see if we can all come together and have a meeting and host a food drive for our community members in need. If you can help or contribute and pass out the food on November 3, 2025 it would be appreciated.

If anyone is open to volunteering, helping to organize or support in any way, please reach out and email me at [email protected].

We are one community and when one of needs help, let's come together and find ways to step in.

Please no negative comments, it's not about us. It's about showing up for one another and honoring our neighbors.
