He got his start in mortgages ages ago. It was the year of Michael Jordan's first retirement, Smashing Pumpkins' album Siamese Dream, the debut of the first Jurassic Park, and the year Alexis Brinkley started 7th grade.

Full of wit and dry humor, he tells you exactly how it is. And how it isn't. His frankness, wisdom and years of experience have earned him a cult following in the real estate industry.

The refrigerator wasn’t cooling.

Days after closing, Carlla Farrior DeGraffenreid got the call from her buyer. No one had checked whether the refrigerator the seller left behind actually worked.

Carlla split the cost of a new one with her client and made herself a promise: “I do not overlook a single detail at a walkthrough anymore. Not once.”

That lesson says a lot about how Carlla has built her career. After 16 years as an educator, she entered real estate and learned through the deals that went right, the ones that didn’t, and the people who helped her grow along the way.

In 2024, she closed 3 transactions. In 2025, she closed 22 with more than $6.1 million in volume.

Her story isn’t just about that growth. It’s about what can happen when you find the right people, learn from every step, and keep going.

Perhaps one of the best-respected Realtors in the Triad, Bill Warmath is legendary! His wife Katie asks him the same question almost everywhere they go in Greensboro.

After 30 years in real estate, the answer is rarely yes.

Martin Moraless waited three months for his first commission check.

He’d just watched the restaurant he worked at with his uncle close during COVID, and after making the jump into real estate, he wasn’t sure he could survive long enough to find out if he was any good at it.

Martin went on to spend five years inside one of the Triad’s top-producing teams, navigating bidding wars with 10+ offers, seven-day work weeks, and due diligence checks as high as $60,000.

But the part of his story that matters most goes back much further.

Martin came to the U.S. from Mexico at 10 years old after his father arrived at 18 with nothing and built a life from the ground up.

Today, Martin is building something of his own.
“I don’t think I could be the type of guy that sugarcoats something for you,” he says.

His story is about risk, family, trust, and what happens when you’re willing to start over.
