🚨 The speed cameras in Cedartown's school zones are coming down.

The City Commission voted unanimously Monday night to end the city's contract with RedSpeed. Commissioner Jessica Payton — one of the cameras' biggest supporters — made the motion, pointing to changes in Georgia's new school zone camera law.

Payton says the program worked, cutting monthly violations from over 1,500 to fewer than 400 and dropping the extreme speeds once seen on the bypass. But she says the city has to follow state law as it stands today.

Her message to drivers: cameras or not, slow down in our school zones — all day long. 🏫
